Thats alpine's 2003 show car. The speakers do not move, however it does have gauges that move around the seat once you are seated in the center mount custom seat. The car is absolutely insane, they have pictures of the whole building process on alpine's website.

That's a pretty sweet car; I've seen a bunch of pictures of it. The weird thing is that in many of the pictures it's hard to make out where the interior pieces are and what's just paint. However, if you want to see a new underwater car...

the interior pics of the car are almost impossible to look at, everything has been glassed or smoothed and painted like the outside. it is hard to tell what's going on. they did move the diver position to the center of the car, and yes it is totally insane

They moved the tail lights down, and it makes it look kinda like a VW Golf
. I've seen pics of the inside also, and it's totally sick! The only thing that doesn't look right on the inside is the Alpine receiver/CD....that makes no sense to me.

be more informed before you start spouting out numbers:

thats WAY more than a $15K paintjob. ever get a quote on getting your car painted just a different color? its around $3-5K. and this car isn't one color, its a bunch of blues and A LOT of custom had-done airbrushing work on the exterior AND interior. ALL of it is custom painted.
just the A/V system took 6 months to complete.

its rolling on custom 19" iForged rims, very spendy.

seeing that its an official Alpine show car, they're probably using the MSRP for all the Alpine products in it. here's some prices i pulled off crutchfield.com:
6.5" monitors (8) $5199.92
amp (2) $999.98
amp (1) $399.99
amp (1) $599.99
amp (2) $1799.98
reciever (1) $399.99
dvd player (1) $999.99
navigation (1) $1699.99
dvd changer (1) $1199.99
component set (3) $749.97
component set (1) $249.99
sub (2) $359.98
sub (2) $399.98
sub (2) $699.98
xm tuner (1) $249.99
multimedia manager (1) $999.99
hard drive (1) $899.99
thats almost $18000 right there, then:
+video switcher
+video cameras (3)
+game cube
+wiring (ALOT)
+installation accessories
+labor (6 months worth)

They have a whole thing in Super Street mag this month. It tells all about it and has an interview with the 2 guys that did it. Its sick but imo ugly. If the kept it more basic exterior and interior color wise. I think it would look nicer. All the underwater jazz is overkill.

Anyone have pictures of the corvette underwater?
Oh and about the Alpine car: They spent $250,000??? How?? I can imagine a $15k paintjob, $20k for the car (it mighta been free however), $10k for the fiberglass work, $5k in centering the seat/mechanics, and $10k in electronics/audio (it's all off the shelf stuff right?), so where's the extra $190,000? Labor?!!?

My question is did they turbo the Zetec? If not...can the lil 2.0 actaully HAUL that much junk around and still make it to 70mph? Yes, I know this car will never be "driven" but if you dump insane work into the outside/passenger compartment, you had better do at least someting to the mill.
Cheers.
And yes, I believe that I would need to take my Dramamine (sea sickness pills) prior to any cross country drives.
