i think there's also some mexican somewhere in the bloodline of the car...

That's a tough question though, since it was designed and orinally released in Europe. I'd have to say it's both American and European, since there's so many differences between the two kinds. BUT i wouldn't go so far as to say that the people in north america drive a european car. hmm now i think i'm just confusing and contradicting myself... so let's just call it a "world car" that's built differently for different parts of the world.

Didn't Ford call it their first "world car" anyways?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I think there was something before that, maybe the Mondeo.

I think our Focus is an American version of a European designed and Mexican built car. Well, the hatches at least. As for the 4-doors...

The Contour/Mystique/Mondeo followed, but technically you could say the XR4Ti from merkur was before that one since its essentially a Sierra to the Europeans.

Well I would think if you could call a Jetta or a Golf a German car then so should are car.

Was the Focus desigened in Germany? Something tells me it was but I'm not sure.

Almost every bolt on every American car since the mid-80's is Metric. Before the full switch it used to be that Metric bolts were Blue, and SAE were metal colored or green.

The focus 4 dr and wagon are made in Michigan, the hatches are in Mexico
