Think you can\'t afford to go next year? People who went, post!

To all you who thought you'd need to save $500, $600, $1000 to show up... I came in to jetfest on less than $300, and while I know people further south and west of me will have a longer haul (and more gas to buy), it really isn't as bad as you think. Save $20 every 2 weeks and you'll have $500+ Or just do what I did and sacrifice a few things the month before the event.

<font color="blue">Getting there and back: $165</font>
$15 worth of red bull and mountain dew
$5 worth of ice if you count the fact I had to refill the cooler in south bend before returning
$130 or so worth of gas (5 fill-ups between $20-30 each)
$10 in random snackage on the trip
$5 at wendy's in Indianapolis on the way back

<font color="blue">Surviving There: $78</font>
$50 to share a $100/night room with 3 other people for 2 nights
$18 at T.G.I. Fridays friday night
$4 at Taco Bell Thursday night
$6 For lunches over the course of both days (PowerWorks PowerDogs and some free food from 1TurboFocus)
Free (continental) B-fast both days

<font color="blue">Event: $52</font>
$35 for the event entrance and shirt
$10 for the car show
$7 for a F2 Focus T-Shirt

<font color="blue">Grand Total: $295</font>

Those of you that went that can tabulate similar tables, do it. How much did it cost you?

Speak for yourself, $2200 for the flight over alone. I hope to plan the family vacation around next years timeframe. I will have to ride the Harley to 2006.

Yes, but that's cheating. I saw a lot of people from the continental U.S. complaining about funds, and some of them were markedly closer to South Bend than I.

I don't think I spent 300 total, maybe like 200 max and that's with hotel and registration and tshirts and food.

was that in front of COmfort Suites? I thought I heard explosives of some kind, and then there were cops...
Yes, he blew up a mortar, but without the tube. It blew up at ground level in the comfort parking lot.

What was really funny about that was, the cops were coming after someone who throw a punch at them, and arrested him, then all of a sudden he shot off that mortor, and then he ran away, right in front of the cops.

Re: Think you can\'t afford to go next year? People who went, po

Gas: 100$
Hotel: 110$
Food Stuff: ~50$
JetFest Fee: 50$
Other: 20 - 30$ (beer, decals, etc...)

So around 240$ not too bad, if I would have known I was goign to go earlier I could have chopped the hotel fee in half at least.

Gas = 60 between two cars
Hotel = 260 for 3 people for two nights (cool suite, thx mom & dad!)
entrance = 105 for 3 people car show, rally and tshirt
100 for food approx.

Best part was having my mom win the 250$ gift certifcate to myfordperformance.com which was donated to myself shortly after her receiving it

If my parents had'nt gone I would have been in a 40/night hotel and probably only spent about 20 on food, but I also wouldnt be shopping on myfordperformance right now.

Re: Think you can\'t afford to go next year? People who went, po

I drove out Friday night and was planning to just sleep in the back of the Focus. Even had a bed set-up for myself. But that was before I got off the interstate and saw a sign for $29.95 single occupancy at a crappy Knights Inn. Couldn't pass up the thought of a fresh shower in the morning. Then Saturday night, I made the hour and a half trip to stay at my brother's place in Chicago.

Fuel ~ $100
Tolls ~ $50 (F'n turnpikes!!!
Image
)
Lodging Fri. night ~ $30
Lodging Sat. night ~ Free
Food/drink ~ $30
JetFest registration and auto-x ~ $25
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Total ~ $235

(BTW - You gotta love it when the guy behind the counter at the hotel puts the cash you give him in his pocket and just hands you a key. No tax, no records, no nothing....)

That was awsome, that cop seemed pretty cool minus writing you a ticket and all, you were talking to him for like 20minutes, then you go and try getting me a ticket, thanks! lol

Re: Think you can\'t afford to go next year? People who went, po

I think I spent right around $130 for two of us on Saturday.
-Two tanks of gas ~$45 (bought in IN 2 miles from OH, dropped $0.14/gal once I got to OH
Image
)
-$60 for food, tolls, t-shirt, Focus Fanatic
-$20 for registration on Saturday.

Was up for 20 hours on Saturday, half of that in the car, but definitely worth it. I don't think I could have afforded not to go to attend the biggest meet ever. Hope to have the money to support some sponsors next year.
