I took my Focus into Canadian Tire because the engine light came on (diagnostic there is much less than dealership). They said it was a faulty TPS and they would have to order a new one in. They reset the engine light (turned it off) and said I would be ok to drive home. I drove home and the light did not come back on. The car drives fine. Do I really need a new TPS ($90 installed) or did it just come on accidentally?

Thanks.

let it go for a few days. if it doesn't come back on, forget about it. if it does, $90 is obnoxiously expensive for a part that costs $20-$30 from Ford. if you have an ATX, however, that price is a steal bc they have to order the TPS and the TB as a unit. they don't come seperately.

Just as a side note. It is a manual and I bored out the throttle body. I did that mod over 50,000 kms ago without any problems so I don't think that is the cause of this error.
