I'm pretty sure my timing broke has broken as my engine seemed to be seized when I tried cranking the engine today. Starter clicks and you can tell there is some torque being applied, but the engine won't budge.
Pulled all the spark plugs and the electrode on the #2 was almost bent clean off.
My friend tells me I'm looking at almost $800 in parts and machine shop fees to redo the top end. Should I just start looking for another motor instead of trying to repair this one?
I bought the car used with 25K on it. The motor always seemed a little noisy on the mechanical/valve lash side of things, and the compression on at least one cylinder has been noticably lower than the others for a long time now.
The car has always run great however. Never had a problem with it until today.
Rather then fork over almost a grand for a new top end on this motor, I'm wondering if my money would be better spent finding a lower mileage engine out of a wrecked SVT and slamming that into my silver pod.
What do you guys think?
