The computer is set up to run that way to begin with. I think the part of the problem comes down to voltage. All of these COP "hacks" aren't supplying enough voltage to the coils for a proper spark. We tried a set of duratec coils on my car back in December and it wouldn't even make 300whp before it was blowing the spark out.

It might but why would you want to mess with it? With stock zetec coil and wires making 600+ I dont see the point yet. When I find the limit of the stock pieces I will worry with it then.

They just took the turbo off the 650 whp 2.xx L duratec they had and put that motor in the car with the aem computer in it. They have been tuning it for an hour here and there for a week or so. Last I heard it was still on 93 octane but whp is well over what most people do with a turbocharged duratec.

I went out to the shop on friday and helped with the tune a little. We got the partial throttle and the lower rpm dialed In pretty good. We moved on to wot and fially got her to wind out to 9k! The power levels off about 8 but its not falling off at 9. I just hope the mtx75 will shift at that kind of rpm. We were just about to start adjusting timing when we realized we had run out of time.

damn. what crank is in it to spin that high?
stock ranger crank

Ok so you are using the 2.5 fusion motor. i have been wanting to do this swap but I have a concern. Will it bolt in without fabrication for motor mounts and will my mtx-75 trans from my 07 focus sedan 2.0 bolt to the 2.5 block? Can I use my original ecu and just reflash it for the new motor?
you need a focus 2.3 front cover to make it work correctly. The 2.5 front cover will make the engine crooked in the focus. Yes on the stock ecu. You cant use the 2.5 head unless you get rid of the VCT.

Big plans in the works for this. New header with larger primaries and new IM with more volume. Maybe a thinner head gasket. I think there is another 30-40whp left in it. Im ready to go RACING!

Do the oil pump, pan, pickup have to be from a 2.0 or will a 2.3 work as well?
It has to be a focus oil pan and the pan has to match the oil pump and pickup. So it as to be all focus 2.0 stuff or all focus 2.3 stuff you can't mix n match.

Thanks for the great info. Is the oil port that needs plugging feeding the VCT?
Yes

The 2.5 block has a slightly larger bore but the motor was originally intended to be boosted and make 800 or so hp. The 2.5 sleeves are made of a different steel which is supposed to be stronger.
