Turbo/Supercharger?

Which would be better for a ZTech ZX3.. .Supercharger or tubo...keeping in mind the price and other parts needed

Electric supercharger for sure


It's the easy way to boost, doesn't require any tuning and lasts a long time because it's an electric motor.

I have one on my car right now and according to the eBay ad, I should be at 220hp (130HP stock + 90HP Electric Supercharger = 220HP). It feels like more than that though.

I am not the smartest car guy in the world, but from my experience:

supercharger = power through whole curve
turbo = you have to wait till it spools up, then power

As to which will give you more in the end? the turbo, as it doesn't pull off the engine with a belt/pulley... However consistancy is with a supercharger...

Someone correct me if I am wrong...

a good sized turbo will pull in the low rpms too dont think u have to wait along time, 2600 rpms with a properly sized turbo isnt out of the question

I swear to god it's always goes like this

Someone asks "Whats better? Turbo or Supercharger"

Then someone says "Turbo = spool Supercharger = no spool"

Then someone goes "Nah Ah! A right size turbo = no spool!'

And then someone says 'Supercharger = reliability!"

And then it just goes on and on with people going back and forth and in the end there is no answer.

So why in the hell do people keep asking this same question?

Are you going to install it yourself? If so are good with wrenches?

What kinda of power are you looking for?
The person has 3 posts. Give 'em a break. There is a sticky at the top of the FI forum of a bunch of information regarding superchargers and turbos. Rather than asking what is better (the question is super vague) figure out what other more important questions you want to ask.

How much do you want to spend
How much power
Where do you want the power
Do you want to build it or buy it
Do you need to be carb/smog/emissions legal
Do you drive it at the strip or on the street
etc
Order a powerworks kit and be done with it.

Why be limited to the amount of power you can make???? Unless you're going for the CARB certification.
So because Power works is the "new guy" on the block it is the best for everyone? look around if you can find someone local to you that has FI ask them if you can meet up for a ride and to talk one on oen about how they feel about the kit they have.



This is by no means a hit against Powerworks. I have driven a couple of PW cars and will say it is a great setup. All FI has its ups and downs

your not limited really... you can always add smaller pulleys to up the boost or drop in some F/I grind cams and other [censored] in the future once it gets developed plus the powerworks kit makes plenty of power as it is!
