UDP\'s

Anybody know what the best pulley for the Zetec is? And are they interchangable, as its for my Mondeo?

Re: UDP\'s

Cheers guys the Engine will be out the car before the pulley gets fitted, and all the accesories off. My Mondeos Engine threw a rod end out of the block so I've bought a new engine.

Where can I find the Esslinger UDP or the AF/X?

Thanks again.

Re: UDP\'s

Get the ford racing unit. Super high quality and easy installation. They are all fairly easy, don't bother with the water pump pulley and the alternator pulley. The crank pulley will give you much better throttle response and the engine will "spool up" quicker. It's the best $125.00 you can spend...

I have the Esslinger and it's nice works well. I would not go with the 3 pice set up just more work and no more power. AF/x is a good UDP too.

Re: UDP\'s

Personally, I'd say it's not worth the hassle to get the alternator out and work on the WP Pulley. Any shadetree with a jack, lug wrench, hand tools and loc-tite thread lock compound can do the crank pulley. Why bother getting one more horsepower if it means spending an extra two hours taking all sorts of stuff apart?

I did the AF/X Pulley on my focus. It adds a bit of torque, but nothing to write home about. You can sure feel it, but it won't take .5 off your 1/4 mile. Still, it's definitely a keeper in my book.

Re: UDP\'s

I would reccomend the Esslinger UDP ($109). It worked very well for me and the install was about 30mins.

As Ross Current was saying...the 3 piece pully works just a well as the UDP but the if you plan on installing it yourself, dont bother. It's a pain in the you know what. As far as gains the two set-ups are about the same so dont think to hard about this upgrade.

As far as interchanging them, some ppl have the UDP with a water pump pulley with free's up a little bit more hp's but like I was saying if you are planing on tuning your car for the long term this is just onestep in long process......If you need instuctions on the install check this out
