But yes he coulda been distracted by the camera as well.

In a serious accident like that, without proper training you sould really leave the people inside the vehicle until paramedics arrive on the scene. Especially in this 'sue happy' society we live in today.

Sorry, I think the reporter should have STFU and went to see if everyone was alright.

There is a clause known as the Good Samaritan Clause that will protect you in a situation such as that.

sorry man, but you can only get in trouble if you start using cpr or something like that and then you stop. That is illegal here. But if you just stand there and don't do anything, then you are ok??

so if anyone has to help someone else out with cpr, do not stop doing it until someone else is there to fill in for you or you will be in a world of hurt, financially speaking!

Aparently by law you don't have render aid to them. But the good samaritan law would cover them if they injured them or killed them in an attempt to help.

It looked like the red car was indeed blocked by the white vann that was crossing in the oppisite direction. My question is, why was tyhe truck going SO fast, im sure he sa the van crossing, wouldnt common sense say to slow down. He got pretty damn close to the van too!

Car driver = owned by insurance company. Especially since fault is shown on tape.

I can see asking the driver if he/she is okay, but I would NEVER touch anyone. Most states reccomend that you call 911 due to risk of lawsuits.

laws be [censored], you go over and see if the drivers are ok.. you dial 911, you stop being a news reporter, and you start being a contributing member to society.

what a [censored]. Hiding behind laws and anything else when there are obviously two people that need help immediately is a copout, and a sad indication of where society is heading.

Hes a News Reporter, There is a crew, someone could have been telling him to keep going, while other people from the team helped. I dont know, but why be so judgemental. Im sure the fact that Its live on the news means that professional help would get there faster then had it not been.

that accident is VERY reminiscent of mine...... except the car that hit me was a truck pulling a trailer full of lawn equipment. That sucked.

Whoa whoa guys calm down. Most news crews are just two- three people. A reporter, a photographer, and maybe sometimes a Live Truck Operator. Now the video cuts out about 10-15 seconds after the crash. Yea some people would instantly think of running over but the reporter might still be shocked and a bit lost of what just happened. I can imagine once he started thinking clearly he ran over to the cars and checked on the people.

But i agree that they should definitely not touch anybody unless the cars are either on fire or about to explode. Plus i can imagine him being live on Air that producers or other people will take the time to call 911 instead of the reporter.

Immediately after the accident, Matt and photographer Kevin Rempe, were quick to help the accident victims. Matt finished his report and went to check on the drivers. Kevin called 911 and grabbed a fire extinguisher from our live truck after seeing chemicals from the airbag, which appeared to be smoke.

I know he didnt HAVE to stop. Maybe slow down, since someone is crossing the road in front of you, going half your speed, in another direction....maybe its just me???

gee, who would guess that the station would try to make them look good? You saw the video.... he stood there awe struck just doing the reporter-esque bs for a solid 30 seconds....

It is good that he did eventually go help, but that is one of those times you should drop what you're doing and be a good person. I'm not saying he had to drag their asses out of the car to safety, but he should have got his ass over there to check em out and ask if they were ok, but thats how the pos media is now a days, its all about getting the story first.

if you were 20 ft from an accident of that magnitude, would you have wait any time at all before dropping everything and running that way? I know I would not wait. I was in an accident just like that except a bit worse.... I was unconcious in the truck, my two buddys had minor injuries. Within seconds there were at least 10 people (neighbors from there homes, people driving by) there to try to help. I awoke on the ground, a few minutes later, because my friend pulled me out and people were taking off their clothes trying to cover all of my gaping cuts. If they weren't there, yea, I probably would have still been ok, I just would've lost a lot more blood. The point is, though, when someone could be potentially teetering on the edge of death, you don't wait 10 damn seconds to commentate what is happening.
