on the other hand, if you look in the back of CAR Magazine and other european mags, there will be ads for importers of American cars like the F150 Lightning, ha ha. so i think they might be in a similar situation over there, but honestly they DO get the cool cars.

I want an Elise, but only way to get on here is to pay out the butt for one with a FREAKING Honda motor in it.

The list goes on and on.

However we do have the EVO, even if the cool AWD system is not in it, and it has an open front diff, it is still an EVO,

WRX, and STi WRX, all we need now is the VW r32, Elise, and the Cosworth Focus.

Ironically, you know who has the best model lineups anywhere? IMO, it's Mexico.

Why? They get American trucks (which are great, obviously) and European cars.

Check out Ford or Chevy's mexican websites. For Ford, you'll see they have F-Series trucks, Explorers, Expeditions, etc, but their cars are Fiestas, Kas, Focuses, and Mondeos. Oh, they get Mustangs too.

TALK ABOUT THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS!!!

Same with Chevy - all the great Chevy trucks we know and love, but their cars are Opel (rebadged as Chevy) Corsas, Astras, and Vectras. Plus the Corvette.

Geez, why can't Ford and Chevrolet give us these same lineups here?

ZX3Rally, at a car show about a month and a half ago, a guy had a Yellow Elise. He finished the paperwork just a few hours before showing up. That thing is freakin tiny!

Well we are the envy of the entire world shortly when the US market gets the 2.5 Litre Turbo STi WRX Impreza! The rest of the world gets the little 'ol EJ2.0t model. It is the equivilent of the famous WRX 22B which was only a 2.2 litre.
Also with the STi we get 3 locking diffs and a semi open deck designed engine with fully forged guts.
If someone doesn't squeeze 500+ hp out of this mill I will be ashamed. Remember...there is no replacement for displacment.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">one, most people here would not buy, but that is changing
two we have stupid import laws to protect American auto makers

thats why very few cars are imported and those that are cost alot

it's also why you can import a car into europe but not in the USA

Re: we don\'t ever get the cool stuff

Don't get me going... In the past I wanted an Escort RS2000 turbo Cosworth and later I wanted a Ford Puma ST160. There was no way to get one in the US. Now Ford has the Mondeo ST220 in Europe (3.0 V6 equivalent of a SVT Contour) and the Focus RS turbo is only a heatbeat away from reality. Do you think we would ever see these cars in the US ???

Ford has a better idea, I just don't know what that idea is anymore...

Well i don't think it's that way. they can MAKE them here. or start offering those options/cars here.

it's the fact that people don't see the reason to get a car for some option. somesaid this but i dunno who

'why get a focus wih AWD and goto a price range of 22K when you can get a Tarus? or a WRX?'

yea they cost 'more' but it's the fact of have a focus. or a WRX. say that the focus came witht he same power as a WRX then which would you choose? i'd go focus. cuz i think it looks better and options for apperance and things on it are better. for me, but back onto topic.

more people would rather buy the taurus. i would never. that car is crap IMO, even the SHO. but hey, we're americans. we don't judge by quailty, options or performance or handling (which is TOO cushiony overall) we judge by price and looks. kinda.

which is kinda sad. and i think those a re the major reasons why we don't have the dope cars

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">The R32 AND Elise are coming to America by the end of the year, or at least within the next year! 2 out of 3 isn't too shabby.
