To keep water out of the electrical parts. By not doing this you could also cause your engine not to start. Can someone move this over to Focus On Detailing Forum. Thanks

I have cleaned mine several time, and never covered anything, just use it on low pressure and dont hold it in in one spot, you dont need much for it too shine like new

just use you head, and you wont break anything

Brandon-TX - Like zetecinside says, cover the electrical componets.

I just had a thought...I wonder if it would be prudent to bring along a leaf blower to assist in drying off the area after cleaning?
