Huh? Since when are Foci that much faster? I ran 15.8 with modified stock airbox, Magnaflow exhaust and a Esslinger pulley. That's pretty comparible.

oh and you guys need to stop kissing FJ *** .. he didn't ask whether he should have raced him or not and im sure hes smart enough to make his own decisions...he said he did not race.. he was asking for car performance.. so stop spraying what you've "learned" on FJ... im sure he knows

I never said they were.. but I ran a 16.1 completly stock.. if the guy doesn't know how to drive.. or slightly less than you.. its very possible to beat one or at least be "equal".. its not hard to believe if you compare the numbers

well I have beaten both z22 and z24 .. but for the z24, it all depends on whos driving and auto/standard.. and i was stock.. There's no such thing last time i checked. The Z24 has nothing to do with the size of the engine they called it s "Z24" back when it had a 2.8L in it. Its just a model code, like the Z28 camaro (5.7L not 2.8L).
A 2.2L cavalier would lose to a zx3 stock for stock. I've done it, I know. I even did a roll-on with them to prove that the focus actually had the power/weight advantage to eliminate the driver error.
A Z24 cavalier is a different story. A stock or mostly stock ZX3 should run from one in fear. In a drag race I've beaten them off the line but driver skills will only take you so far. By the 1/8 mile he had caught back up. That car has a decent advantage over us. Probably now I could beat or run with one... (intake, exhaust, UDP, cam gears, ported T/B)

I aslo agree with you about the street racing thing. I mentioned it on here once and everyone jumped on me. There's a lot of "tattletail" "mommy said so" kinda people on here.

WHATEVER you do in your own life has NO BEARING on what's appropriate on the Website.
Street-Racing is plain Unnecessarily Dangerous, EVEN IF you're not in a position to cause harm to others. It Sucks to lose a car, and it sucks more to get hurt... or Worse.
Those who choose to Street Race are letting their testosterone overpower their brains.
Show me your best Street-Racer, and I'll take him on at an Auto-X anyday.
Any fool can buy straight line speed with enough money, but all that is proven is who has more money to spend.
If you must drive straight, at least go to a place with a fair start and safety equipment, where there's NO CHANCE of things entering your path. (Except for the other car).
Anyway, like I started out saying, this website is NOT the place to discuss it, regardless of what you do.
I confess, one of my first "Rookie" posts was a "Kill-Story", even though no side-by-side occured. I ate up a CRX that was rather modded who was TRYING to "Race" away from me, and I had to continually "Lift" to keep from running over him. I wasn't going to pass him on a 2 lane w/ double-yellow, so that was it.
I was explained the rules promptly, the post was edited, and that became history.
The rules are the rules, and the end result is a less trashy Forum.
We want to keep it that way.

i was at the local wal-mart and it was about 2:30 am. there was some kids there that thought they were cool with there chevy cavalier with a automatic short ram intake wanted to race me. i have a 5speed zx3 with a iceman cold air intake who do you think would win

If you have skills with 5-speed you should win. But, please do not race esp. at walmart parking lot

Go and sign up for local auto-cross event and show that you are a mature skillful driver.

depending on if they had a 4door cavy and/or which engine that had in it...i would say u, but u dont kno wat type of engine plus any other mods like chips or sumthing...cavy drivers are sneaky!

i kno i have beatin cavy's and civics that were 5speed with my focus auto...so it all depends!(on remote non-populated streets, not in a parking lot!

)

oh yeh...drag racin on the street/parking lots is STUBID, either hit a track or autocross event...dont do it on the street..

z24 or LS sport? the 00-01 z24's have the 2.4L 150hp engine, the LS sports from 02-03 have the ecotec engine (140hp).

please, if they wanna 'race' you... either smile and walk away, or take it to the track.

Its like if I said a 2.5RS and a WRX .. they're both Impreza .. i don't see whats wrong with what I said.. I was just referring to the "sub-model" of the cavalier which is quite different IMO ...

and here they have z22 badges and z24 badges.. I never said it had anything to do with the engine size, where did you get that idea???? of course, the z22 has a 2.2l and z24 has a 2.4l, but thats not why i use the 2 different terms.. its just a way of distinguishing them because it IS what they are called

and if you know how to drive it you got him, do the double clutch

thats what this guy in my town does he always races his friends automatic cirrus LXi and the cirrus always loses, the other guy drives a probe GT but he would lose anyways with or without the double clutch.

What the HELL are you talking about with that "Fast and Stupid" talk of "Double-Clutching????!!!!

Double Clutching is a technique for DOWNSHIFTING a car w/o Synchro's in the Tranny. If you're doing it while Upshifting, you're just wasting time. Learn a little more about driving before giving that kind of advice.
This isn't a poorly-written movie....
