Take a look at this thread....

But if you prefer to stay transversely mounted...SVT was able to jam a 2.5L SVT Contour Duratec engine in a Focus....As a test...

Of course with either of these applications you will ruin the focus' excellant hadling capabilities..But if your just goin for power...Go all out...

the SHO V8 might fit.

i would ingnore the duratec V6s and go for the jaguar X-Types AJv6s either the 2.5l 192hp and 180 lbs or the 240 hp and 200 lbs 3.0 version.

both would kill your handling.

Well I'd assume you want to keep your transmission. So the 2.5 liter V6 is an option. But for the cost and complexity of mounting that engine in the Focus compartment, you could purchase a full turbocharger kit for your existing 2.0 liter which would give you much greater gains than an extra 500ccs of displacement (200hp and 165ftlbs). You could eventually get more power out of the V6 which is an excellent engine from articles I've read on it, but with a FWD car, I wouldn't want over 220fwhp anyway. I'd just want good power with good torque in as light a package as possible, and spend the extra money on a killer suspension setup. But thats just me.

thanks everyone, i'm not trying to go for a drag car. i'll need it to be an everyday driver, i was just looking to up the horsepower and keep the existing control performance. i'd like to check into the turbo setup for a focus se with automatic transmition though. would anyone know about where and how much this setup would cost?

or what about the cosworth inline four, would that be a better gain without sacraficing handling?
