What is this? It's not connected to anything. It was under the right-hand cover, beside the air intake.

Just hanging there.

1. Possibly an ignition sytem diagnostic plug?
2. Maybe this part of the harness is made for all Foci ignition systems, i.e. SOHC 2.0 , DOHC 2.0 & 2.3 - cheaper to make one harness & not use a plug?

I've seen this on Ford lamp harnesses - even if you do not have factory foglamps, they make one harness (w/ foglamp plugs) & leave them empty. Just my hypothesis (and worth $0.02)

I may take it to the shop... The car seems to be running OK. Could get better gas mileage though.

I'll get a better pic.

it is a ground . but it's not super important . it mounts beside the coil pack . mine broke too . i just used a bid soldering iron and fixed it rather then buying a new one for ford's cheap design

I 'fixed' it this weekend... flattened out the end and jammed it under the piece of the clip that was still on the screw. I'm hoping its good for about 2mpg better!
