This part right behind the coil pack:

Here is what mine looks like, the metal clip broke and I can't figure out what it is.

Thanks.

Looks like some sort of external resistor for the coilpack. It might suppress spikes into the ECU from the coil flyback, though I'm not entirely sure as to the exact function, but many cars have external resistors on the coils.

...I'd certainly try to replace it if possible... All that really needs to happen is the mounting tab needs to be grounded to the block.... even the broken one would still work if you could manage that.

I busted mine before (exact same way), and was told it was the sensor for the radio's automatic volume control feature.

Miraculously, it was replaced once my supercharger was put on.
:what: Are you Kidding me? I freaked when I saw it broken, and you're telling me it's a part for my ****ing radio!?!?!

I'll try and confirm when Jen goes to work tomorrow. F ford's stupid radio sensor next to important stuff.

We Thought That Was All It Was And That It Was Useless on BlueZigs Car But You HAVE TO HOOK IT UP. It Is A Power Resistor To Ground. It Will Blow Hella Maxi Fuses If It Shorts Out. Just Some Experience.

It is a capacitor, We put them on all ford vehicles. Jusy like fastraxturbo it is a capacitor. We install them on all our 5.4L 3v and 2v at Ford Windsor engine plant.
It just helps with the noise reduction for the radio.

I learned something... I knew it was a ground.. but I didn't know it was radio related.

It Is Still Important. It Stops A TON Of Power Spikes And It Will Blow Hella Maxi Fuses If Its not Connected.....Noise Supressors, Gotta Love Em.

Hmmmm, I wonder if that's why I get a lot of interference when listening to AM radio? I'll have to go take a looky tomorrow, it'd be nice to get rid of that, although I suspect it has more to do with the lack of ownership of a cordless soldering iron leading to crimp connectors being used when I wired in my HID's.

If that turns out to be the case, I'll selfish...err, take the pain of lack of AM reception by taking your HID's. ;)

or 5 dollars on an extension cord:)
I'm ashamed to admit, I actually didn't think of that. I looked around for a plug, but there weren't any on the outside of the complex that I could find. :dunno: There's nothing that says I can't run one back inside the apartment though, I suppose.
