WHAT TO DO... what to do.... (help me pick my next auto! hehe)

Ok so I'm eyeballing the prospect of a new car. Main reason? GAS. I drive quite a bit, and as much as I love the Vic, gas is just killing me. Even on a long highway trip, I average 15-16 mpg.... I figure that a vehicle that gets at least 26mpg on highway trips will save me about $200 a month. (and will help negate the fact I'm gonna take it in the shorts when I trade in the Vic... but oh well)

So, here's what I'm looking at. Comments/suggestions are welcome.

(all are 5spds, btw) :p

1. 06 2.0L ZX3 (convenience/110A/sport pkg)
2. Honda Fit Sport
3. a used 2.3L 03/04 ZX3
4. a used RSX-S
5. a used EP Hatch

well and this one might be pushing the mpg thing, but I have a soft spot for these trucks:
6. Tacoma 4x2 Access-cab

Talk amongst yourselves.

You know my arguments for and against Kris but I think the strongest argument for no would be against the new Focus 2.0. With as much as you'll be eating it with the Vic, the new Focus's drop in value as it rolls off of the lot is going to kill when mixed with the Vic's rolled over negative equity. It will take you years to get out from under the Focus. Like 4 of them.

Take it from someone who knows via a rolled in Cobra.;)

If you really want a Focus though, that used 2.3 has already lost its drive off equity and would be a damn fun car.

I'd like to see you fix up a 2.3 hatch or an '06 Focus, the new style needs someone like you to come along and revolutionize it like you did with Spongebob and Krabbs Kris :)

I'm partial to the Fit Sport, but it's gonna have a huge aftermarket, and you're family here ;)

07 GTI with DSG. O.K., that was not on the list, but I'm partial. I get an average of 31 MPG with mine, so I'm super happy! I'm not sure I like the other choices. The Fit is good on mileage, but that's about it for me and the car's newness will wear off in a while. The Focus is nice enough, but lacks styling and a certain "jazz" lately, so I'm waiting for a new config on that one. The other choices just don't turn me on. The GTI is just a blast to drive and I still look for reasons to drive just to take it for a spin, plus Alvin can get you a good deal at Barber.

If I really had to choose from your list, it would be the Focus over the Fit.

no to #5. why would you want a mini odyssey. plus the vtec on that car is only for saving gas. it's not like the vtec in the rsx-s or new si.

i say go with 2,3 or 4. oh and airforce but sorry to break the news to you but the new gti aftering being priced out usually ends up being over 25k. thats double the price of every car on that list pretty much.

RSX-S, I think that gives you something of everything the others give, you plus a higher level of refinement and it handles pretty damn good for a front drive car from the factory. The only thing it's really lacking is in the looks department, which would be a plus if you want a sleeper.

What's an EP Hatch?

Personally, I'd wait for the Suzuki SX-4
