Mine was replaced under warranty at about 15k. I bought it as a "Ford buy-back" vehicle, and it had a little over 6k when I bought it. The engine problem (#3 cylinder was toast) probably was there when I bought it. I'm speculating that the previous owner trashed it once he found out Ford was buying it back:thumbdown . Currently have about 55k on the car (40k on the motor), and it works flawlessly:thumbup: .

Mine basically melted down after a large coolant hose burst on a summer day in traffic in Phoenix. This was at 60K. Towed it to a Dealer since it was covered under warranty but after being assured the car didn't suffer any heat damage, it made it off the lot but never made another trip under it's own power and had to replace the engine at my cost since I had an intake and exhaust.

That's pretty sucky...I know that certain intakes can void a warranty, but not an exhaust. Any catback exhaust is exempt from affecting warranty because it's after the cat and doesn't play any role in how the engine runs. People with brand new cars can get exhaust and keep their warranty. Or do you mean that you had full exhaust, including hi-flo cat or ORP? I also actually heard that you can clear an intake on your warranty if you can prove that it's higher performance than stock, then it doesn't void anything. I would have fought that a little more...

I'm not exzactly sure if you can get a new engine right now from Ford, I thought they said something like there out of stock till 2010. That's for a complete engine.

I think Steve and or Kevin could fill us in on the availability.

I changed my motor a 40K went with a built and balanced svt short block with all the goodies and custom head and cam package.:D

wow no warrenty cause u had a intake and exhaust. my dealer warrented a LS6 w/ a supercharger after the oil pump broke, GM can out and said it wasn't the supercharger that cause it and it got a new LS6. not fun putting a LS6 back into a CTS-V but fun driving it lol.

but it was a good leason learned when going to a dealer try to put vehicle back to stock.

There was a plastic pulley that became faulty...had it replaced. Then there was a knock coming from a crank as a result.
I took it to 4 different tech's and they all said the crank was going, so after 4 months or so I decided to replace the engine.

And for the hell of it, i looked on Craigslist for another SVT, and some guy replaced his engine EXACTLY at 113k. Same as mine. Concidence?

Then I received a class action suit notice about prior Focus that I owned, last week.
I will be speaking with them next week about there issue.

That class action suit should be in regard to premature brake wear you'll need very specific records to get on board.

hey is it possiable to switch a 2.0 duratech with a svt 2.0 are all the other parts inerchangeable? you know water pump, alternator all that good stuff
That sounds a little tough because you would need to get the Getrag tranny as well and that's pricey. It has different shift cables and yada yada. Even if the other components like alternator were a fit, changing from Duratec to Zetec sounds slightly complicated, but definitely possible.

Nice, only thing I had go on me was my tranny. And the best part was guess how many miles? 3k First oil change. I forget what the problem was, and then (!!!) they try to give me a bill for it! I'm like, I just bought the car, it should have a warranty! [/threadjack]

Hope my engine holds up for me! Like said before, I'm coming up on 80k here soon, and getting ready to replace the timing belt (and some other stuff with it).

Well I would hope so! I don't want a car with an unreliable engine... Anyways, my engine runs super strong and I use full synthetic oil. My only complaint about our whole SVT/Getrag setup is the horrible batch of clutches. My CM stg 1 (the old version) is already starting to show signs of death @ 20k miles or so and I've never taken it to the track and I tend not to ride the clutch very much.
