I'd been eyeing the focus since concept drawings surfaced on the internet (mostly in the escort groups, as people said "this is the Escort's replacement". I loved what I saw.

In may 2000 when my Escort's engine bit the dust, I decided I was making enough cash to have a new car and try to get my escort fixed. It was a no brainer, but I did test drive a civic, tiburon, spectra, and a few others. I could have afforded something much nicer than a focus but I figured I'd rather have a house than a nice car. For gits and shiggles, I test drove an SLK 320. Wow. Almost had me convinced I didn't need a house. Went with the focus instead.

I basically fell in love with it just because it was different. I hated neons and cavis, and dont want to be in the civic crowd, so it was right for me.
The euro and svt parts are a happy bonus.

Man, that build quality sucks! Look at the gaps around the hood and on that bumper, which isn't even put on straight.

I bought the Focus because of its reputation for handling and because even though it was a first year model, Ford had been making them for years in Europe so I figured there wouldn't be any major build problems.

the tranny fell out of my maxima, next the spec V was to much at the time, missed out on the mp3 protoge, Didnt pay much attention to the svt focus at the time, couldnt find a truck i liked, the 98 240 i looked at was a little bit more than i wanted to spend on a car and not get a warrenty.....so there you have it, next on my list was a focus. But i love it so its all good.

my RX7 was quite infected with electrical gremlins. then the clutch went.

so then my parents were like "no no we're not sinking more money into that car blah blah blah"

and then they would only co-sign on a new car.

and this was in October of 2000, and like NOBODY had the Focus around here, especially in a hatchback in yellow.

so that was it, and for a few glorious months, girls were swooning over the guy in the cute yellow car, and people young and old were asking what kind of car i had.

now, i either get "whoa, this car is nicer than i thought it would be", or "how many recalls have you had?"

Two V8's and a 80 mile-per-day commute coupled with free interest for 60 months and under invoice pricing sold me my Focus.

Unless I see some big numbers from Ford on the next SVT Focus it will probably be my last and I'll see myself back in a Mustang like God intended. I'm not worried about the commute because I doubt I'll force myself this pain I call employment much longer.

1) I knew I could afford it

2) needed new car, Probe GT had 90k miles

3) Had been to this site several times to take a look at the potential of the car and all the help that is here.

A few years ago I had to buy a POS Accord, due to no down payment money, and bad credit. (had to overpay for it too).

My brother said he'd cosign a loan for me to get a new car, my Accord was falling apart.

My uncle works at Ford, and they had $2500 cash back going. So the cash back took care of what I owed on my accord, and with the X plan through Ford I got a good price.

Well, I got the Focus because my dad liked them. I was always kind of surprised that he actually liked the car though. He had like $3000 off of any Ford product because of his credit card and he needed a I4 car for milage at the time. I always hated the car until seeing this site and checking out Steeda.com and getting my first glimpse of a modded Focus. I was like damn, that isn't that bad at all. Told my dad what I thought, and we pretty much had one the next day. Then when I turned 16 this past November...I got the keys to it. I love the car cause no body has one NEAR like mine. Turns heads everywhere. Funny thing is...rims give you SO MUCH attention.

I purchased my ZX3 because I figured it is different, cool, new, and had potential (
). But I didn't buy it for all the recalls and problems that I had to go through.

The insurance was cheap and I needed a replacement for my POS neon so my parents gave it to me for a graduation gift.

I bought the Focus because my Omni's new engine developed a rod knock in 37 miles.

Who would've known I'd fall in love with it.

I bought mine for the following reasons:

6'1" tall, 2ft wide shoulders kept me out of most imports... (I have a pic of me sitting in a miata with my knees OVER the steering wheel into the windshield... and yes, my feet were on the pedals).

Liked the look of the hatch, and came in a 5 door version so I can cart around some drinkin' buddies....

Has enough room for 3 snowboards, and 3 people without requiring a roofrack...

and it wasn't a neon
