i have a 2003 focus spi. my friend works at raceway ford out here in riverside and he is a lube tech. he asked all of the techs if i put turbo in my car, my motor will blow in a few months. is this true?

There are way too many variables to say, "Yes, you will blow your engine in no time."
Also, when you do a turbo upgrade, you don't just slap a turbo onto the manifold and call it good.
I won't tell you what's going to happen to your car if you put a turbo on it, but if I had to guess, I would say bye bye clutch!!
You have to be ready to commit to added expenses along the way, premium fuel, and never slacking on the maintenance.
Ultimately, YOU are the deciding factor as to whether the engine will blow. If you add the turbo and forget about it and just drive it like hell, it'll blow. If you know your stuff, take the best care of it and stay on top of everything, you'll be good to go.

haha. You should ask him why my motor has'nt blown yet, it has been 4 years, just how long does this blowing up process take?

the guy said it should blow in like a few weeks. i dont drive hard all the time. just when someone pulls up next to me lol. i am going to get the 14b turbo. if i get that i wont have to change my internals right?

Your overall mileage will play a factor too. My car has 106K on it now, so I would be more wary of turboing it as opposed to another car with say, 50K on the motor.

Woah hold up there n00berts!!

IT'S ALL IN THE TUNING!!!

You could strap a turbo on your motor, drive down the block, and your motor would kerplode. Its just that easy.

That being said...
If its tuned properly (injectors, XCal, dyno time for AFRs, etc) then you should get some good use out of it.

There is NO WAY to tell someone if a 14B is going to detonate the motor. No one is freekin psychic. If the motor has a lot of miles on it then your chances are a little bit higher for motor death. Which means you just have to be that much more anal about tuning and maintenance.

haha yes red-SE-00 hit the nail on the head.
I would even go further and say miles does'nt really matter, as long as the motor is healty and has good compression.
These motor's do not have 8.5:1 cr, I have no idea where you got that from johnbob, they are 9.2:1 stock.
And yes a 14b can blow a motor, hell a tiny VJ-11 can blow up a motor...if the tuning is bad.
It's possible to blow up a brand new fully built motor with less then 5psi, and it's also possible to run 10psi to an old motor with 150k miles and have it run perfect for a long long time. If you see the point I'm getting at, is it's not the "motor" that determines if it's gonna blow up, but the tuning just like RED-SE-00 said.

Both of my turbo SPI's have over 120k on them. The body on my 96 is over 170k, and tranny over 150k.
