OK how do I get FORD TO HELP is the BIG QUESTION? I have taken my car in seven times about the gas mileage and have left numerous messages here about it but today is just crappy. I got 165 Miles to 11.918 Gallons of gas that is a Big 13.84 MPG in the City. I have no idea what to do if this stays like this I am gonna go crazy. I have kept track of my mileage the past 5,000 miles and my average MPG is 18.56 MPG way below standards in anyone's book!

you need to call ford customer service and tell them exactly what you posted and let them know how freaking pissed you are. That's freaking unacceptable!

I told them and they said all they can do is send the info which they did to Bloomington Ford once again but they have checked it 6 times and they find nothing wrong and i have taken it to Larry Bird Ford once and they haven't found anything wrong. I told them to get an engineer from Ford and they said absolutely not as there is no cause to have one sent. I want to talk with the Regional Rep but they haven't got me in touch with them yet. Anyone know any Regional Reg Phone numbers??

Hmm... I had one tank of 14MPG around town, and typically get 17-19MPG around town... I usually see 27 on the highway.

So I dunno... That doesn't sound too far off to me!

I am getting about 220 Miles on a tank of gas on the Highway so it is just as bad!

This maybe a long shot but do live close enough to Michigan, Illinois or any other state?

The reason I ask is there are two things to consider.

1) Indiana is using their winter formula for fuel
2) One of the other states can have a different formula

So by trying fuel from a different state may see a difference in mileage.

One more thing what are the specs of your car?

April 1st was the time when they were to stop using the Winter Fuel but I have been tracking before they started it this season and getting the same crappy mileage. So I don't really live close to another state to get Gas in as I am in Bloomington right smack dap close to the Middle of Indiana.

About 2 weeks ago... I filled up, and went to a basketball game on the other side of the state....I got went 325 miles until my gas light went on.

And YES i did clear my odometer after i filled up

Not to brag, but (and i shoulda taken pics) My best tank of gas was 87 octaine, doing between 35-45 on back roads to work and back.. before the (dummy)light came on, i had 365.&change miles :-D this was also thro 2 snow events! i was freekin amazed.. but also drivin at night so i could slow down up hills exc.. to milk every drop i could.. too bad my 1.6 civic ex could do *** miles with and still only take in 10ish gal. w/ a 11.9 tank i believe.

I dono what else to say but maybe shift sooner? Change your spark plugs? Filter? Wires?

I got 200 and change on a half of a tank once, on the highway. I probably averaged about 70 mph.

Not to brag though, and I hope that never happens to me.

Man, that sucks. Does that affect your car performance as well ? I can't think of anything that causes such bad mileage.

OK... All I know is that when I started shifting at 2500 RPM I went from 24MPG City/Highway to 29MPG City/Highway. Try it... you might be impressed.

You know there's factors that can effect you gas mileage. And agressive driving can account for a whooping -20% to your gas mileage...

I have an automatic focus and I don't drive aggressively! I drive the speed limit and just drive like most normal people!
