I got to meet up with the One Lap of America guys and gals at the Skidpad Shoot-Out which was held at The Tire Rack on Sunday.

While there I meet a legend among car guys, Brock Yates. The founder of the Cannonball Run and an editor at Car and Driver magazine. He was extremely cool and we talked about the SVT Focus.

We met Tony Pedregon at Commerce, GA at the Southern Nationals on Saturday...I hate to admit it, but I have never heard of Brock Yates.

Oh yeah, we met Muhammad Ali once as well

That is me, Tammy, and our Little Champ, Brendan

Since I've been reading automotive maghazines for over 20 years, I'd really like to meet someone like that. I believe that the One Lappers are coming to the Memphis Motorsports Park this week; maybe I can meet him or at least see his good looking self.

Get out there, we had a lot of fun talking to everyone. Brock is super cool, just go up and start talking to him... he's always wandering around somewhere.

In case anyone is interested, Yates wrote a great book called "Stand on It" By Stroker Ace--it was the inspiration for the not-so-good Burt Reynolds movie. May very well be the funniest racing bok ever.

His other books, especially "Sunday Driver" are very good too.

I grew up in the twon next to where he lives. I used to go past the Cannonball Run Pub at least once a week. I was too young to go in there when I lived there though, but you could see some memorabilia in the window. I will have to go next time I visit my parents. If anyone is going to be in Western NY and wants to stop by, I can give you directions.
