I have always been amazed by Zetec engines! I lived in Europe and "real" Ford tuners are always using Zetecs. I have 2003 ZX3 and I love it! It is easy to buy performance parts for it. There are turbochargers, superchargers, etc.
Zetecs are European engines, one on my car has been made in Germany along with the transmission!
Focus RS World Rally Car has a Zetec engine Picture-CLICK HERE along with the RS, on which it says Duratec but it is 2.0 liter Turbocharged Zetec (basically).

Zetec is much more fuel efficient (Zetec goes
on a tank
rughly 400 miles on highway which makes it
about 30mpg,
but 2.3 goes at most 230 miles on a tank which
makes it under 20mpg, i know a person who has one)

Zetec has much nicer sound, more like
sports/racing engine, where PZEV is really queit
(nice for grandma, but not really for me))

You can buy turbo or supercharger and you can
make it over 300HP, but PZEV...PEOPLE HAVE
PROBLEMS WITH OIL FILTERS, and not talking about
anyting else

It has 130HP stock where PZEV is 144HP, BUT CAR
TUNERS DON'T REALLY CARE ABOUT STOCK SO....

WHATCHA ALL THINK??? IF YOU WERE GETTING A FOCUS NOW WOULD YOU GET PZEV OR ZETEC!

P.S. Y'all heard of COSWORTH Ltd? Well' for years they have been making ther famous racing engines from ZETECs (on Focus RS WRC there is a badge that says "Zetec by COSWORTH", by the way Ford's FORMULA ONE engine iz ZETEC-R (10 cyl.)

uh first of all
-duratecs can easily get 35mpg freeway, a lot of people have gotten around 40mpg
and even more..
-the duratec is quiet because it has 2 cats, a muffler and a resonator...
it is not quiet with the manicat and flex only
-the zetec sounds like an angry storm of bumblebees.. duratec doesnt even buzz slightly
-the duratec has a much better flowing head and overall is a MUCH better engine
-people do not make tons of parts for it because it is a NEW engine
-a zetec will NEVER catch up to a duratec with the same mods, the duratec will just keep getting further and further ahead

btw, i have a zetec sitting in my garage.. ill trade you for a duratec since you love the zetec so much

duratec is gonna win in the long run, so much more upgradeable and theose engines are much more responsive to mods, and ive heard a 2.3 /w race header and full exhaust and it sounds like a bat outta hell!

Yah...that's the reason that Cosworth in California is buying up my Duratec 2.3 engines.

To protect sales of their modification upgrades and parts for the Zetec.

PS...Ford no longer offers a Zetec engine in any car or truck so there is no choice between engines.
