Anyone know of a bell housing or tranny in production that will mate with our Zetec?

Rear end, driveshaft, custom motor mounts... it's just the bell housing thats getting me stumped.

Thanks.

Re: Zetec RWD Transmission?

I believe reading about (in this forum, somewhere:) about the fact that the Ford Escape has a Zetec and a four wheel drive transfer case, and ppl were talking about making a Focus into an AWD beast, but I haven't heard anything about just making it RWD.

Ya, I thought they even used Zetec's in some sort of open wheel or cart racing? How they do that with a RWD tranny?

But if I'm thinking what he's thinking, what trans did A-1 Rallysport (or Motorsport) use for their "Cossie" Focus?

they used's a cosworth I4 Turbo motor with the whatever tranny the Sierra cosworth's used(they were powered by the same motor but stock it made like 220hp or something, they were RWD, that motor was also used with AWD in escort rs's)

Contact John Ehrlich at Altech Precision, www.quad4rods.com in Denver, Colorado. John offers rear-drive bellhousings and transaxle adapters for the Zetec and new Duratec engines. He makes carburetor and stand-alone ignition conversion parts too. The Quad4 website shows similar products for the old GM Quad engines.

Re: Zetec RWD Transmission?

How about giving us the info on where to purchase that bellhousing? I've been thinking that this would be a relatively simple conversion, particularly since Kugel has all the parts needed to mount the rearend and modify the transmision hump and k-member.

I've seen quite a few pictures of MK 1&2 Escorts with RWD Zetec motors over in Europe. I'm assuming the motor mounts could be easily attained? Headers could be easily purchased, and we could finally use the Dunnell quad throttle body setup in a Focus.

Re: Zetec RWD Transmission?

John Ehrlich at www.quad4rods.com also has bellhousings to mate the new all-aluminum Duratec (Focus PZEV, Ranger and Mazda trucks, Mazda6 and Mazda3 engines) with several styles of rear-drive transmissions AND...Yes, there's even more good news! A Webster-Hewland transaxle adapter. This transaxle is the same one found in the old air-cooled VW cars...Bugs, Vans, Karmen Ghias, etc.

If you wanted to build a mid-engined Focus for road-racing or a WOW! factor this would be the way to go! John is working on supercharger components for the Duratec engine. Write him for photos, [email protected] .

I've got both Zetec engines...new in-crate and Duratec engines/components for sale if you want one to match up to your new bellhousing or transaxle.
