Hello everyone, I'm looking at buying a 2002 SVT. I had it brought in for a compression test, and the results were 115psi across all cylinders. I know that it's good that they're even, but isn't 115 kinda low? Thanks!

115 is not low because of the VCT. SVTs always have much lower compression than regular Zetec. Since it was 115 across the board, the motor sounds solid.

Agreed. 115 across the board is fine. Almost never pay attention to the actual number on the pressure gauge. Always pay attention to how close the cylinders are to one another. A large number of things can play a big part in what numbers you get. The only time I would pay attention to the numbers themselves is when testing two identical cars with the exact same physical gauge.

Naw, I know who he is...he just disappeared for a while.

Thanks! The only weird thing it's doing is not starting. Occasionally, when I turn the key, the engine turns about 1 revolution then stops and there's a metallic grinding and no start. It usually starts second try though, with no grinding at all. Any ideas?

May be a bad starter or a damaged flywheel, could also be that the starter is disengaging for one reason or another while you're trying to start it.

For example if the clutch pedal position switch was not making good contact it might disengage the starter while you're cranking it which could cause the gear to grind on the flywheel.

Not saying that's it for sure but it's a possibility,

Well, here she is. 02 CD silver SVT, 125kms (77k miles). AEM CAI is the only performance mod. Got my girlfriend to take some pics with her nice Rebel camera. I actually hadn't noticed the front left quarter panel before, it's not visible in normal light. From the front, the QP is lighter than the rest of the car. Must have been resprayed upside down or something :p

Edit: taken down to blur out license plate. BRB.
Edit: Annnd, Back up.

Well, had some time to play with it. I used a paperclip to jump the clutch position switch wires, and the car still has the problem, so the switch isn't it. Any suggestions as to what the next thing to check is?
