This is a quick how to for TSSFAB, but anyone else can use it to properly delete EGR or just to understand how it works on the Duratec.

This is just eye-candy LOL

Exhaust flows through the passage indicated by the orange arrow and into the valve through the lower hole. It is the metered through the EGR valve to the upper port and then the intake, the purple arrow.
The blue arrow is a coolant passage that should be plugged, 1/8 is what I use.

And finally the purple arrows show how it is introduced into the intake. I use another threaded plug on the head to block this.

With a little thought you could probably use the deleted EGR ports in the head to aid in cooling but that's a different post for another time.

im not a fan of feeling dumb! lol i really never put this much thought into the egr block off. I think your write up is very interesting but perhaps i just missed the importance and/or mod for the work you put in? Up until now ive just seen the rear egr block off plate and then "everything" else is just open?
idk....

Red Beard, Just putting a block off plate on the side of the head means that hot exhaust gas still travels through the "orange passage" and then just collects there heating up that side of the head. I do it this way to avoid that as well as using the extra port area to cool that side of the head. There are some other machining steps involved though.

What exactly is the advantage to doing this?

no i get it after going and looking at my cyl head, its actually a really good idea and will be doing this on my build as well. I think the #4 runner needs to be smoothed out tho for proper port match between the 4 tho o? would this even become an issue on a NON race engine?
