Call me stupid if you like, but in 2004 is the shape of the focus going to change? and if not will the 2.3 engine drop right into the 2000-2003 zx3 frame?

Focus Central told me they will provide some after market parts for it.
They are under the impression that it will be the Focus motor forever, though I have heard otherwise.
About a year ago when I first heard this from a little birdie....hehe. The 2.3 was temporary until Ford could get some of Mazda and thier's plants geared up to produce the 2.0 zetec collectively. The reason they chose the 2.3 is cause those motor plants could make up for the slack the other plants couln't while this swap was being made.
SO in other words look for Protege's and Focus have the exact same drivetrain and the 05 Turbo Focus and MazdaSpeed Protege to have the EXACT same drivetrain also.
oh and the 150hp...well that motor was built originally for the Ranger. Big horsepower wasn't the focus of the Ranger motor.![]()
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I heard the same thing, of course I may be wrong and ford is dumber than I ever imagined. Spend 2 billion dollars to replace the ZETEC, SPI, and mazda engines. only to expand Zetec production to japan?Originally posted by Phillip:

Maybe something akin to the Escort GT of yore?
Something with a S2-type suspension and sportier seats.

<sarcasm>besides I can't believe that SVE would make a decision based on political reasons that would be more expensive and/or negatively affect performance</sarcasm> oh wait that already happened with the Focus SVT and the Getrag!!!
The 6 speed works quite fine with the engines' power(band), thank you - nice try though!
Something tells me that you are not an SVTF owner.
