Re: SD may no longer need to borrow my Dad\'s truck anymore......

Hey, my sis in law has a 1994 F150 for sale. it has about the same mileage on it BUT she rear ended her father truck about 6 months ago. All of the sheet metal has been replaced, but the hood, left front fender and drivers side door are in primer.
She offered it to me for $2500.
Want me to get a couple pics for you?

Cool! i'd like to have that one last piece of assurance on that guy.

if you could, find out the rear-end gear ratio, please!

Re: SD may no longer need to borrow my Dad\'s truck anymore......

I just called, and had one of the guys that works for my Dad check...and there isn't any VIN info on it...he said that those older vehicles don't give much information on the computer, and the furthest it goes back is mid 90's. All it says is that it is an 89 F-250 with a 5.8 and a 4bbl carb. But you can climb under there and look at the tag on the rearend...it will tell you the gears that are in it. But he said more than likely its a pretty high gear since it from out here in california, he said maybe even a 3.08, unless it has like a "camper, or towing package". And if you wanted an Oasis report it would be better to go the the Ford dealership out here so you can have them print it out.

well, that helps i guess.

wait, it says it's CARBED? NO! no, no, no, no, no, NO! i will NOT do carbs on a smogged vehicle!

DAMMIT! r u sure?

edit: i'm almost positive it's not. IIRC, the last year of carb'd 351s in f-series was 1987. matter of fact, i just checked this against the Kragen database (went to the website and tried to pull up a carb'd 351. had to go back to 87 to do it).

as far as the gearing, i wouldn't think it would be that low. it does have a tow package, but even w/o one it wouldn't be that low on a F250, i don't think.

crap, justin, gimme a heart-attack why don't ya?

Hey...Im just the messanger....thats what the Ford computer says...but I was thinking it should be either an SPI or TBI. like I said...it was a guy that works for my dad, but he is usually pretty good at is job, so I dunno

Re: SD may no longer need to borrow my Dad\'s truck anymore......

thankfully, Ford never messed with TBI on these trucks. GM did, and then they got smart to Ford. i'll call up the dealership and ask them to pop the hood and look, but i'm almost positive it's FI.
