Hi Guys. I'm so excited. I just got my very first Focus. It's a 2000 SE sedan. Does anyone know what engines were available in that model? I took a look at the block but couldn't find anything special (Duratec, Zetec, etc). I look forward to many happy miles with this car.

It either has a 130-hp 2.0L Zetec:

Or a 110-hp 2.0L SPI:

It didn't say Split Port or Zetec on the valve cover?

That's weird, snap a picture, maybe it's just worn away...

Congrats on your car!

If you have the SPI, you should consider yourself lucky! Everyone on this website (except for like, 3 people) will see your car as the retarded little brother to the BIG BOY Foci.

Nope. The Focus was introduced to North America with two engine choices:

- 2.0L SOHC Split-Port Induction (basically the old Escort engine)
- 2.0L DOHC Zetec (former iterations in the Contour/Mystique, and Escort ZX2)

The SPI was available on the LX and SE sedans, and SE wagons. The odd-ball was a Canada/Quebec-only SPI ZX3 model (and that's really rare).

The Zetec was available as an option on the SE (as part of a Sport Group), and standard on the ZX3, ZX5, ZTS, and ZTW.

He was joking :)

In car circles, it's common to joke around with people who have different levels within the same vehicle. I don't think there was any harm in his comments :)
