Also, something to think about… with the separate grille piece, there will be more room to customize, ala aftermarket versions, painting different colors, etc.

I guess it is what it is. It could have come out a lot worse. Still it means euro goodies won't fit the us spec model.

The new Mazda 2 is also getting the enormous side mounted fog lights.

This photo I think also confirms what BRZX3R was saying about the grill just being a flat mold. You can see that its flat in color which means it will more than likely be chromed later. I highly doubt they'll leave it flat for production... but who knows....

flat could mean paint too, though.
