I was inlove with the italian stallion, even though it was just a concept it was the only mustnang I've actually really liked.. wish it could come into reality.

the 09 is supposed to only have minor changes, tweaked to perfection. It will be more "sleek" but not something to catch the average driver's eye of "something new"

it will be taken after the original 2005 Mustang concept car (more 'swooped' headlight surroundings, wider fenders, and 'nose scooped' hood...a-la old GT500), thats where they should have compared it to.

when they redo the mustang, it would be great if they went with something very close to the concept car. That car is VERY striking. (just dont like the rear all that much)
that's what the 09 facelift will consist of...from every source i have read/heard from.

05Concept hues, wayyyy more than the actual 05+ Mustang. Then for the next revision, a completely new mustang(2011ish-2013ish) running more of the concept they are comparing this to

this is the best comparison for the 09 mustang:

and if you look at the spy photos....this really does resemble MORE than what they are suggesting. This source is waaayyyy off IMO.

C'mon Ford be original in design.

Ford Design Team: "I know! Let's sink the headlights in!! And...and put some rear fender vents in! Oh and ummm hmmmm....we better flip the lower grille around so it doesn't look like anything else."

If you are comparing the two concept cars....please tell me you're kidding.

the mustang was out 4 years ago. Camaro....one.

If anything, GM copied design cues not Ford.

I wish they would change the car's rediculously bland rear end and turn that side bodyline into an actual scoop. The front end was the only thing I really likes about the new Mustang, I'm scared they might have changed it too much, I guess I'll see. After having the displeasure of seeing the new Focus, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Angelus897, the Mustang is never getting an independant rear. The stick axle works fine for what the car is and with some work the car handles very well. Sure the car feels like a truck on rough pavement, and the axle hop can cause some unwanted sideways jitteration, but it saves Ford money so they can cover the cost of redesigning the 2008 Focus on an Etch-a-sketch

You think the Camaro looks anything like the Mustang? :screwy:

Other than the fact that it harkens back to earlier models they have nothing in common. Quite frankly the Mustang design is very plain in comparisson to the Challenger and the Camaro. Having a body that resembles a block of wood with an old Mustang derived front end on it means there is nothing to copy.

this COULD be ok, but comeon at least change the rear also. They best be changing both parts of the car or it will just be stupid. That is what ford tends to do all the time. Just change the front of a car as oppose to the whole thing. Comeon now. Were not THAT stupid you know.

No, I don't at all. I was merely pointing out a logical fallacy by another poster. Thats all. :)

I seriously hope your wrong considering both of its rivals will be sporting an IRS. Though your etch-a-sketch explanation surprisingly makes a lot of sense, rofl.

Ford had a lot of ideas for the rear end back in 2004. I just hope they didn't throw the ideas out.

Okay good, because that's my next car so you can't insult it

Yeah the "____ looks like a _____ with the hood off a _____" is getting old. It's gotten so bad I've found myself doing the same thing :(

As for Fords ideas for the rear, I want to see something more than an expanse of cheap bumper. Anything will do, nicer exhaust exits, a rear skirt like on the SCT Focus and SVT Contour. It's just so empty back there aside from the giant chromed plastic badge.

Ford doesn't throw thier ideas out, they just lay off the people that came up with them, so when they finally put that idea into motion the driving force behind the idea is gone and you get a washed out final product.

So when is it going to get an IRS? It's going to need it with the Camaro and the Challenger.
I dont think so...1st my understanding is there is going to be a big price difference between the stang and those. With the Mustang competitive currently in Grand Am against the GT3 porsche, good argument that it works
