1.6 zetec se to 2.0 zetec swap

Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum and also to ford. I resently bought a 2002 zx5 with a damaged 1.6 zetec se engine and I'm having problems sourcing the engine parts and overhaul kit. Any help would be appreciated.

I am also considering swapping in the 2.0 zetec. Has this been done before? As the SE engines are different, can someone shed some light on this?

Thanks

IIRC, a 1.6L "Zetec" is the Sigma engine. It's not the Zetec we have here, which you would call the early model 2.0L Duratec. As such, I'm not sure any of us have any idea whether or not it'll fit.

In the US models, physically, any engine will fit in any Focus. It's just a question of grabbing the right parts. You'll pretty much need a whole donor car for the swap.

However, if you do do it, please post pics?

NiceGuy - it's doable, but unless you'll do it on your own it's completely financially unreasonable, because you need to swap virtually the whole front plus engine loom, the list of parts needed is really long...

Thanks for the info. This is pretty much the same I've heard from a local mech. Hence I have decided to simply replace the engine, and my stay with ford will be a short one. The focus is not really the modifiers car of choice here. We have one on our track and probably 2 zx3 models on the road. May be I would be fortunate enough to get a zx3 later, then you all would see me again.

The car is for street, never wanted it for track. I however prefer not to work with the 1.6 zetec se. Like I said before, the zx3 is rare here, infact the zx5 is too. The sedan and wagon are the focus you find here, so finding an RS or ST170 is not an option, used or not.
