Wow... looks like Ford just kinda threw everything together and called it a day. The Zetec is much prettier under the hood.

Truthfully guys... The ugliness is pretty much isolated to that area... The single coilpacks and fuel injector wiring make up most of the mess. On the Zetec, all the fuel and intake related wiring was still there... just hidden from our view on the backside of the engine.

The coilpack wiring, while ugly, is a necessary evil. Some careful re-routing would have it looking up to spec.

Another reminder to everybody, not only does this engine put out more HP/TQ, it weighs less. (50lbs IIRC, not 100% sure).

Custom order a base model ZX3 with this badboy, and you'll have a Mini Cooper killin' H stock autocross machine.

If I get a decent job soon, I am seriously considering purchasing a second Focus.

damn, the potential is mind boggling.........and the H-stockness days are probably numbered

as far as an ugly motor, well, maybe....but I find it kind of refreshing that it isn't covered by a bunch of plastic "styling" covers.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I think that about hit it on the head. Perhaps they rushed this out the door? Maybe when it becomes THE engine choice, they'll clean it up. As others said, I'm all for the exposed look, just clean up the wiring.

edit: where's the throttle body? in that box next to the manifold? i see the cable, but it goes into that box?

148hp, 152tq according to some older info... I could have sworn the numbers were lower now.

Either way, this thing will probably beat an SVT alive out of the corners!

I'm completely in awe that people are saying it's an ugly engine. Who the **** cares what it looks like? Good God.

I don't care whether it's ugly but it does looked tossed together. It also looks like someone from the wiring industry had undue influence on the people who designed the bay. I mean, look at the hoops coming from the MAF (I think) - you tie the useless parts of those two wires together and you've got a jump rope. Okay, a slight exagerration but after my experience buying a 2000 Focus, seeing the engine bay on this doesn't make me super-confident in being a guinea pig for the first year 2.3L Focus.

Nice but it looks like a nightmare to work on. What a mess of wires and hoses. If the power is there who cares about looks! Hopefully this valve cover wont leak at all!
