Heh. So far its something like 94% focus, and about 4-6% cruze.

Well seeing pics of the new focus solidified that as my next car to replace my current focus. Although I'll be waiting for a performance version.

Its a toss up between the two cars. The Cruze has that new 1.4L turbo motor that will get better fuel economy than the Focus while still matching it on torque. However it doesn't offer the DSG style transmission. The Focus looks better, but its also going to cost more. Both will be great cars and are long overdue for the aging cars they are replacing.

What people vote, and what they buy are two different things. Is the Focus a better car, yes. But I think the Chevy will still sell more because it offers more conservative styling (American's have not warmed up to hatches) and it will be most likely cheaper.

Unfortunately, the reason I believe the 08 did so well in sales was it was a traditional sedan and coupe, and cheap. These factors made it a success even though it was panned by the ENTIRE enthusiast community and major automotive media outlets.

I really, really hope I'm wrong though and the Focus is a home run.

Remember the days when sexy, refined sculpted looks were reserved for high end German cars. Well, the new Focus has that feel. The Cruz, I am sorry to say looks like a Saturn rear end mated to a Malibu front end. The Cruz looks little different from the GM products of the last 5 years. The Focus straight up outclasses the Cruz in styling, hands down.

Sorry, but to me the Cruz looks like another GM parts bin collage. The roof line and rear end are severely dated by today's standards and the front end is typical bland GM.
But wait. The Cruz is a Chevy...well then it's just perfect...for a Chevy.

The pictures are unfair to the Cruze, because the Focus is a car show prototype with huge wheels and lots of shiny bits in heavily touched up marketing photos while the Cruze is a production car with normal wheels and normal instruments photographed on some nondescript pavement at a GM test center.

I doubt opinions will change if that was the Production version of the Focus up there. And the same can be said of the Cruze in Pre-production form.

Cruze... Yuck! What a name. Sounds like a new way of saying mudd-Butt or loose poop. "OOO GAWD! What's the matter with you? Go and take a dump! You got cruze or something?"

Edit: It is safe to say that this name plate isnt sticking around. First of all Chevy could have spelled it right to begin with.

yeah, I like it too. Its WAY less busy than the Focus's ****pit. To me, it looks like Ford barfed buttons all over the stack and steering wheel. Kind of a disappointment after seeing the stylish AND functional Fiesta interior and the classy exterior of the new Focus....

If I could afford both Fiesta and Focus they would each go in their own separate garage to be driven on a changed out basis.

Just voted :)

Focus: 96%
Cruze: 2%
Equal: 2%

This was already posted and commented in the Officel 2012 focus thread, but guess everyone missed it.

Well whats funny is those are some of the BEST pictures I have seen of the cruze. Most of the pics I saw were of the base model that just looks like a cheap POS. This seams to be top model to top model comparison....

I don't mind the "cleaner" interior of the cruze per say. As for everyone complaining about the focus having too many buttons, what do you expect! the car be loaded with more options than some BMW 7 series are sold with! The amazing thing to me is how FEWER buttons there are. if ford did not have the my ford Touch interface i don't think there would be room for all the buttons you would need for all the options!

The only buttons that seem unneeded on that model though are the HVAC. All the functions can probably be controlled by the touchscreen or by voice, so that is the one bit that seams un-needed and would clean up the dash quite a bit on myFord touch equipped cars.

As someone somewhere already commented, do these cars even compete? Chevy seams to be in the "value" class, and the focus seams to be in a "semi premium" class.

Cruze = Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra etc... class cars
Focus = Mazda 3, VW Jetta/rabbit/golf

They may have some cross over in the price overlap (someone looking at a loaded Cruze may look at a base model focus with a few options) but otherwise I don't know if they are true competitors other than they are the same size.

It's like comparing a Yaris to a Mini. Both small hatchbacks, but that's about all they have in common.

oh and since the first time I saw that poll the focus was in the high 90% range for votes. (I wish they showed how MANY people voted so far!
