:dunno:Me and my friend have started building a purpose built drift car (240sx) tell us what ya think.....

We were kinda late getting a camera so we are about 2 days into the build it was all tear down (ripping interior out, power steering, AC, unused wiring, all the useless stuff) There is also a ae86 hatch the guys wants like 1000 in my town. Im thinking of grabing that and doing the same to it. and make a drift team.

 :dunno: SORRY {PLEASE READ FROM THE BOTTOM UP I ACCIDENTLY WORKED BACKWORDS:dunno:

And the end result for about 3 days I think we are doing good

This car was meant to be a race car It has door handles under the door handles explain that unless they were expecting this to be gutted?

We have to reweld the trunk and yes thats a foot! this is the only real rust on the car

the KA24 SOHC has 205,000 and surprisingly runs really strong
Can't decide on SR20 boosting the SOHC or getting a DOHC KA24 and boosting that. I think we are leaning to the boosted DOHC
Image

And the hood We are thinking about leaving it just like this even with the new paint job what ya thinK?

yea the 240sx is in my garage while my Focus sits outside:(...its ok the Focus understands lol. Before i do a swap on the car im going to rebuild the KA24E motor (gaskets only) and just drift that till it dies and then worry about the swap (SR20DET or KA24DE, boosted of course) what do you guys think of these colors for the 240sx; flat red bottom and gold on top? If you have any ideas or suggestions let me or Brian (blackeuroust)

Looks like a fun project. Once you get the floor cleaned off, are you going to spray it black or leave it as is?

yea we're going to spray with truck liner actually...so that way we can just brush away any dirt easily plus it will have grip

awesome build guys! i say screw both of those motor options, RB26DETT and make it a sleeper :evilgrin::bow::thumbup:
yea i thought about that but the motor is pretty expensive and its heavy for drifting but it would be awesome:evilgrin::evilgrin::evilgrin::hump:

up here in NY we have a small drift crew. my friend is currently building a 93 240. He picked it up for $450. it needs a tranny but thats included in the price of the sr20 front clip that he is getting. looks good. pics located at http://nystreetscene.com, under the new toy listing
wow thats lucky i wish i could have gotten an SR20 front clip with my car too

the doors arent lined up correctly because the fenders arent bolted on...im going to rivet in sheet metal over the sunroof. I didnt think truck liner was heavy? well if it is then paint it is

You have your work cut out for ya there man, best of luck to ya. Course my truck was looking worse then that at one point too.
Its really not that bad the trunk is the worst rust in the car by far. And only because the person I bought it from had that particle cloth crap (the stuff that when it gets wet will never dry) between the tire and the bare metal, so it ate at the metal. The rest of the rust we already took care of it was all surface rust, a one,, two done.

Definitely a tough looking project. Have fun and good luck. You cant really go wrong with either of those engine choices i bet. If I were you I would go for whatever has open doors for you. Either ease of tuning or parts availability or whatev.
Red and gold sounds very drifterish. Could also go all red with gold wheels.

^^yea it really is the biggest problem. Im either going to go to the junkyard and cut out the section out of a junk s13 or just cut mine out and weld a flat piece of sheet metal
I think the floor holds the frame pretty sturdy and stiff. I would not cut it out if it was me.

i seen this car not too long ago. you should have seen how much wiring they removed. there is barely anything left in the harness....

and an ls1 wouldnt be bad for drifting, they are all aluminum, not very heavy at all.

yea the KA24DE motor has a pretty good aftermarket but im probably going to just go with a SR20DET just because it has a GREAT aftermarket...what do you guys think would be better just getting the engine, tranny, ecu and wire harness or get a S13 front clip? the price difference is about $1000 or less
