They are all [censored] morons and should have any driving privilages taken away for life. I can't believe how [censored] stupid people really are.

I didnt sit through 10 minutes of that.. only skipped around for a second. What'd they do?

My friend was going to junk his mazda 626, we were going to drain the oil and see how long it'd take the engine to die @ full throttle. Nobody felt like crawling under it and we couldn't find something to catch the oil. (We settled for just wrecking it into stuff and destroying it with tools.)

Is that what this is?

That is just bad doing that to an Rx-7. That was not cool at all, maybe some other car but not the Rx-7.

Second generation RX-7s rate right up with Yugos in my book... Actually I like Yugos, and I hate second generation RX-7s, so maybe not.

Ugly body, annoying engine sounds.

I still feel a tad sorry for the car though, but hell, I'd feel sad if somebody did that to a K-car, so I'm a lost cause.

I like the RX-7..Too bad the engine itself isn't very relibable (mispell?) and is a b***h to fix when broken..

What dumb asses!! id a rolled if the car caught fire then got the garage/house on fire. then itd a been hillarious!
And I agree, what the heck were they doing? Were they just bored and decided to rev an engine to hell? I'll never understand some human behavior.

The rotary is the most reliable internal combustion motor there is! Try running a Zetec at 9000 for that long.

They had NO water pressure (cap was off). Stupid waste of video but it shows how strong these motors are.

They aren't worth a damn for auto use but they WONDERFUL in the air.

i got the impression (since he said the engine was already busted) they were just destroying it, likely because he was swapping in a new motor. if its trash anyway, why not have some fun with it? like the R/C toyota video a while back

Because folks are paying good money for that engine for aircraft use. I bought two 13B turbo short blocks (rebuilt) for $5000.00. They were fools to do what they did.

It's interesting how it died from extreme overheating before some mechanical failure resulting from the high revs.
Nothing unusual about it. Rotaries RARELY break an e-shaft or melt rotors. They usually get gummed up with carbon because they inject motor oil into the engine for apex seal lubrication. We toss the injection system and pre-mix our gas..just like a two stroke dirt bick. We've had TOTAL loss of coolant and were able to make it to an airport 1/2 hour away.

Like I've said...bad for auto use, great for flying behind.

Oh, and at 9000 shaft rpm, the rotors are turning at 3000. That's why they don't bust from high revs.

Actually, listen to the engine crank over when He tries to re-start it, there is no compression, which means the engine died from loss of compression to the cooling system, which is mechanical. Phillip is correct in saying the rotaries get gummed up from the oil injection, but just like any other engine, if good maint. and good oil is used, the engines can last a long time. The turbo'd 13B's actually had more turbo problems then engine problems, and they are still a good racing engine in SCCA and good for airplanes also.

Oh, and I think they are easier to re-build then a 4-stroke engine.

And thirdly, no offense to Doughboy's car, The rotary was a much easier swap then the freaking Focus! We got one from a Junkyard a couple hundred miles away, had what looked like oil dry in it, it sat on a dirty garage floor for a couple weeks after that, then slammed it in, started it and We got second place in our class this year!!! The Focus on the other hand.....I will just leave it at that!;)
