A return to glory..... Input needed on post 30!

OK!
So, many of you old timers will remember this car, it was one of THE first Focus' to get a V6 swap and is currently the ONLY car left that has a true SVT-C V6 swap vs a few that have standard Contour/Cougar bottom ends(maybe heads) with SVT top ends or just IM's.

this was how she was in her glory as a Sema/Magazine whore back in the day!

well, fast forward almost 6 years later and this is how she sits today, just 4 days after picking her up of her former owner...

oh and the Silver car for good measure too!

she was in pretty rough shape after 2 years of storage and I've still got a lot of work to do just to get it back to an even keel so to speak. I've already removed the yellow tint(no i had nothing to do with that in the first place), fixed a few issues, working on a few more and have already started buying up parts to help restore her to her former glory. but this time in a much less extravagantly ricer-ish way... So if i msg you about parts, know you're helping me bring her back! :p

i've even started a little test fitting....

She will be put into DD service as the silver car slowly gets converted into more of a race car that will still see street time too!

Feels good to have her back on the streets!

What are the hp number for the yellow focus?

Also how hard was the swap? Did anything have to be fabricated in order to make the 2.5L engine fit??

I am in love with it!!

iirc it's about 170fwhp and similar torque on an old big drum mustang dyno... i have no sheets on it so don't quote me on that...

there were more than a few things that needed to be fabricated and modified; we made a new wiring harness for much of it along with PS lines, AC lines, motor mounts, downpipes, intake, converted to a return fuel system, lots of little things that add up to a big job.

Hey Mitch, long time no see. Did MMP bbq happen yet? I miss PNW. Glad to see you on another Focus project. I hope you iron out what’s necessary and bring this car back to life. I am assuming Jetta is gone? I think your PWs car will be finished just in time when I come back to NW in 2012. Will you still be there? I hope winter goes easy on you and you accomplish a lot.

Davor, there was no MMP bbq this year from what i understand. :( GCVW went off for the first time in 9 years without one... sad sad days i tell you! The V6 is coming a long, she'll be getting one major issues fixed over the next few days which will be nice, and i already have my grubby hands on some euro bits! ;) I sold the Jetta on wednesday last week and bought this on Thursday! :p i hope to have the silver car finished before that but who knows... i've got a lot of catching up to do with Shane before it's close to how i like it! And don't worry man, i'm not leaving the PNW unless FBL, TRG, Ganassi offer me a job between now and then!!

No boost for this car, tuning would be a nightmare and it's more than enough fun to drive as a DD!

The silver car hopefully will be making it out to a few track days next year but i have been saying that for the past 2 so who knows... i'll still need track wheels and tires along with a few other things before that happens!

picked up a 98-01 euro bumper today, should go nicely with a matching rubber lip and European glass fogs i've had sitting in storage for years...
in the process of procuring a rear bumper kit and tails from Europe.

...rubber lip....

Have fun installing that rubber lip!!!

Great to see you rescuing this car and bringing new life to it :) Keep us up to date on the progress. I LOVE where you are going with it so far!

Have fun installing that rubber lip!!!
started fiddling around with it this after noon... i think i'll let my body guy fight with it!
put it up beside the US bumper to check how much lower it will sit.... about 2 " lower with the euro rubber lip. Should look perfect once it's on the car.

I also just picked up 2 new pairs of Polk Audi 5x7 speakers, 2 new pairs of nice RCA's, 4ga power wire, cap, 10&14ga speaker wire to go along with a couple of Alpine amps, Type-R DVC sub and a older but still killer Alpine deck that i already have...

Waiting on some e-dead sound deadening to do the entire car a'la: http://forums.focaljet.com/team-rigz/606661-i-hit-100k-then-there-silence.html

and i also have a line on a rear bumper, tails and grills coming from the UK....

Sorta like my old Jetta, i'm doing this as cheaply as possible which so far has worked out for me! even with the purchase of the car i probably wont be into it for more than $5k usd! :p

something that's going to kill that budget is a EAP recaro interior that i'd love to get for it!

and driving the car.... OMG!? I've driven lots of highly modified Focus' before but this is like nothing else and i forgot how much fun this car is! power band is insanely elastic, you can hear and feel the dual length IM switch over and the sound of the car.... i've tried to make a couple of sound files but they just don't have the same effect as hearing it in real life... if you live in the Vancouver area or are willing to drive up, i'd be more than happy to give you a ride or if i know you, let you drive it.

It's still nowhere near sorted in the suspension department as far as i'm concerned but the sound and feel of the engine makes up for any area's Lacking for the next while! :p

James came by and helped me with some work on it today... he did most of the work while i drank beer! :p please excuse the crappy camera phone pics!

a little arranging

and then a quick trip to the lumber yard yielded 2 4'x8' sheets of 3/4" MDF cut to 4'x4' squares strapped to his roof for the drive back to my house!

it was his idea... he thought he could get them into the hatch! :p

Oh yeah, i vacuumed up about a half bag of dog food from under the carpet. apparently Matt had a bag explode and didn't too the best job cleaning it up... still have to gun-wash the interior to clean it up before the sound deadening goes in on Tuesday!
