So this is my foc

Image

And this is the inspiration for what I am going for and also my other passion, flying that is lol

And this is a quick sketch of what I am going for tell me what you think. I am also going to be doing a black fighter plane star on the rear quarter panels similliar to the one pictured on the planes tail. Vents on the front quarter panel as pictured below and BAT Inc. actually sells an aviation fuel cap for the focus and I am so getting it lol. And their'll be some other small but tastefully done things here and their. So like I said tell me what you think. The liquid grey will be the same color where you see the darker colors are the areas I am painting black.

Nice idea.

I like vents that are functional, otherwise they just better not be chrome and call extra attention to a useless ornament. Two-tone is great when it's done well, but you might want to experiment with the front line at the wheel well... being close to the seam of the bumper might make it look a bit "busy" there.

Vents will so not be chrome lol they'll be black, their will be no chrome on this car lol, and I am hoping to at least make the drivers side one functional and run something back from it to my intake. I think with the color being black that the bumper line won't mess with things to much and thats also a critical flare point on the car and I am hoping that if you cut it from their forward the black will make the front more aggressive however I plan on doing some more work with this in color to see what I think but today I was limited to a pencil and felt tip marker lol.

Paint? Or would you consider even having some vinyl first put on to test how it looks?

As for vents, I just find they are being played out. I'm not sure how well having vents there will actually be "good" for an intake. Air would be deflected across the side, and there would be a tendency for air to just pass right over it or maybe suck air outwards.

Thanks for the info on their funcionality I wasn't aware of that, as far as desire for putting them on its mainly to kinda give it that whole P51 look. The plane has the exhaust up front on its nose so I thought the vents would kinda give the car the same look. I am hoping I can do them tastefully.

You should move the vents up more to the front more over the wheels then move the black line back to be covering the vents the get rid of the black roof and paint from about half way over the rear fender back black, also change the skirts to the other color you have itd really look like a P51 then :) but thats me though.

^^ Yeah, that s2 lip is pretty cool - never noticed before (but my first thought was, "Damn! Wish my 2000 ZX3 had had that...").

Anyway, back to the topic: if you're gonna go with the P51 look as in your sketch, you may have to put one of those vintage pin-up girl stickers on the front fenders so people "get" it. Otherwise, people might just think it's a whack two-tone job (then again, the black star might do the trick).

Oh their will be more subtle graphics for instance on the fuselage of most fighter planes their kills where displayed like so....

I am gonna substitute those out for Honda and VW emblems :thumbup:eek:r maybe Nissan lol also displayed below the ****pit of every fighter even on todays is the pilots name in small cursive lettering I'll be doing that also just down bottom of the mirror on the door. Theirs also gonna be small tail numbers, on the side of my tail :D and yes everything will be done tastefully but the point of what I am going for will be apparent to not to mention I am gonna get the aviation fuel door that BAT Inc. sells for the focus that alone would be a dead give away to anyone thats ever flown a plane or fueled one.

No to the vents. I understand why.

Do a side exhaust that dumps in front of the rear wheels.

I like the "kills" idea, if you want to get the full fighter-plane-effect, but if you haven't driven an obvious street-racer around town before, you'll have to get used to sometimes being followed and occasionally pulled over by curious cops. Driving that car will make you a shinning example of a drivers-ed honor student around town, if you aren't already. Tough being in the eye of the "paparazzi", lol.

I like this idea, hope to see it come to life!

I agree the side exit exhaust would look better than vents. Maybe if you did the exhaust so that it splits to three pipes side by side right behind the front wheels? Hotter and unsafe for you though. Also, what kind of wheels are you thinking about? Maybe a four spoke (the prop on the plane looks to have four blades) or a wagon wheel look might go good with the airplane look.

The exhaust thing sounds cool but proably not very practicall or affordable as far as wheels go the enkei j10's 16" in the black finish is what I am going with heres a pic of em

I would move the star a little further forward about maybe 3 or 4" but thats my opinion.

How about a few louvres forward on the fender versus the vents? That way it's functional and should give you the same effect. I have 17" J10s on my 03 ZX3 and 08 Coupe. The 16s didn't look right to me and the 18s made the car ride like a lumber wagon ... though it looked good.

I like the louvres idea  and I am not sure about wheels right now cause I am moving up north at the begining of next year so I am more concerned about the snow stuff but more than likely will stick with 16"s when I get new ones

Yeah starting to kick around a few other ideas though that might include matte or like a satin black instead of the original gloss plus from experience in flying and seeing other planes at the airport, its very common the top of the cowling/nose area is painted a flat color so the sun doesn't shine off n blind the pilot. And it was often very common on most P-51's.

Yeah this look is defiantly gonna happen but decided when I do it I am gonna do it good. I am wanting to get another foc in about a year or so n maybe autocross or show with it n this work will be put into it I am saving all suggestions and ideas on a word doc for later. The current car is gonna be painted satin black with a clear coat for flats and I am gonna do carbon fiber accents like the side moldings, outside door pillar, rear hatch molding, and so on. Throw some black rims on and I think I'll be good to go!

I think to finish the look you should buy the engine and propeller and add that to the car! nothing like 1200hp at the hands.
