Just a few pics of the Zipster with some new toys installed.

Zipy's got a SEG on his face just like I do . . .

Love the finish on the AEM CAI. Big change in throttle response, and the noise is just awesome.

The VF mount has totally changed the 'feel' of the car. Shifts are very crisp, and there is just a very slight, low-level sense that you can feel the engine running where you couldn't really 'feel' it with the stock mount.

Still waiting for the UPS guy to show up with the MBRP . . .

There are a few posts on 'is it upside down or not?' - I went with the cupped side on the subframe, which is what I think the instructions said, but really, both sides could be described as 'cuppish'.

If the debate is settled, and I have it wrong, PM me so I'm not embarrassed . . .

Oh boy, it's time to update my sig!

I put it cupside down also, and supposedly that along with my choice of oil filters means my car is bound to explode any day now.

BTW- How much did you end up paying for that hitch? What do you actually tow with it? Was it a custom job, or does someone actually make this for the Focus? And last question, did you have to cut into the rear mesh?

I've pondered the idea of getting one installed and using it to tow around a small little trailer of race tires, tools, race fuel, etc... A lot of the miata guys around here seem to do this pretty successfully.

The VF Engineering mount was $99 from our buddies at FocusSport. With tax (CA) and shipping, $114. And their web site shows a pic of it mounted big cup down

The hitch is actually for a bike rack - I have a 2002 Cannondale R500 road bike that I love, and an old beater Hardrock mountain bike. I try and ride a few times a week. I hate roof racks, so hitch mount is the only other choice. I ordered it from www.hitch-web.com. It's made by Draw-Tite and total cost was about $180.

It actually just pushes up on the honey-comb rear bumper mesh at each corner; I debated trimming the plastic but decided to just leave it. There is one hole you have to drill in the rear sub-frame and fishwire a nut through to secure the right side, the left side uses an existing bolt. Just be sure to pull all of the stickers off so you look like less of a dork for having a trailer hitch on an SVTF.

I'm gonna post a new topic with the hitch info and pics. The U-Haul hitch appears to be the same DrawTite product I have (the mfg. number matches).
