Yes. Much like for that. MB is doing the retro thing like everyone else. And they've done it well in this case.

 

I dig the throwback. I think its super entertaining and still isnt bad looking either.

Gullwing is indeed interesting but it doesn't make up for a deterioration in asthetics. The old one was more attractive. Hopefully the car's capabilities still stand on their own.

I concur. Sometimes I'm a bit slow and things take a while to grow on me, but I'm just kinda 'whatever' about it at first glance.

ETA: Keeping my opinion to myself from the bf as he is a Merc snob and I just don't wanna hear it...

 

I think it's growing on me. I'd seen renderings of it that i thought looked better than this. Those wheels certainly don't do anything for it, though.

And the responses in here are exactly what Mercedes wants. Polarizing designs draw attention. The MK1 Focus was the exact same way and look how well it sold over the years.

 

Mercedes could put wheels on a giant turd. As long as it has a 6 figure price tag people will buy it. Paris will paint hers pink. Diddy will have a white one.

Yeah, I like it! In silver please. The car looks very clean without a bunch of funky shaped scoops or vents. Very elegant and sophisticated.

 

That is one of the best looking Mercedes I've seen in a long time. And I agree—silver, please.

Forgot to add, besides the Silver exterior, please add Red interior… for those of you shopping for my Christmas present.

 

They got the grill right. But the lack of round headlights and no rear 1/4 window make it all seem lost in translation.

 

It's a modern interpretation not a modern copy. I knew what they were going for the instant I saw the car.

And to me the arcs over the wheels were a bigger design detail on the original than the round headlights or quarter window.

 

With the red, it kind of looks viper-ish IMO
