I always thought that typically a side exit system BEFORE the rear wheels was illegal...but hell I'm not the EPA!

The Lightnings had a side exit in front of the right rear tire.

It's not illegal, It's just easier to quiet the car with full exhaust.

Plus the chemicals in the exhuast can be hard on wheel finishes.

Back in the SPI days of yore( due the limited performance parts available for them)one of the ideas of shortening a zetec sedan catback approximately 5" and vica versa made fitment possible for either body style. ie sedan to zx3 shorten the tail section @ 5" , zx3 to sedan lengthen about 5" . Since the Borlas' are a slip fit/clamp or weld I wonder if they'll fit either one with a Duratec? Somebody out there have access to both body styles ?

Yes, Borla, but was modified for the wagon. You can tell from measurements. I added a 3rd muffler to cut the excessive noise with the header and no cat.
