Has anyone successfully installed a centrifugal S/C on a SPI ?? I am looking for more power for my work/winter '97 4-door 'scort with the SPI and MTX.

Suspension mods are done on the 4-door 'scort. I need to make the car feel more like my monkey powered ZX2 S/R...

For emissions reasons I can't go turbo and I want to avoid having to fabricate an intake manifold for an Eaton/Roots type S/C.

thanks...

What makes the centifugal S/C more emmissions friendly then a turbo? It should be possible to have a clean burning turbo system with a cat. Or is there some rule about modifly the exshaust system?

No one at this time has a centrifugal blower on a SPI (that I know of), but I have seen root's. I'm pretty sure it's because of the higher cost to get hands on that style of SC, and that fact that it's a Escort.

Go2000gt is planning on getting the vortech s/c for his spi focus. If he goes through with it he will be the only one from the jet with a centrifugal blown spi.

it's a rather simple project compared to turbo

if you're any good as a welder and have access to tools that can bend and drill metal (to make brackets) you could get the SC hooked up in a weekend...tuning would take longer

Moving the cat or installing something between the exhaust manifold and cat is a problem in most states that have stricter emissions laws. Delaying the light-off of the cat after a cold start is one problem...

As long as I reside in CT (with the imminent threat that emissions testing is restarting) I'll have to consdier N/A or a belt driven S/C unless I buy a cat that was originally equipped with a T/C...
