Re: speedway-focus challenge: Results

Dammit! I thought you get cash prize! Like $5000 or something. Haha, just kidding. A trophy is awesome already. Donated prize is cool too. Wonder if anyone would donate a blower. Haha That'll be the ultimate.

Re: speedway-focus challenge: Results

What speeds did you guys get your focus up to at the front straight?
According to the GPS gear I was testing, I hit 95 mph on the front and back straights in my stock SVT Focus.
You hit 95 on both? I thought you'd make more in the front. I seemed to have been faster in the front than in the back. But again, not sure because I never looked at the speedo. I was too chicken to look away from the road.

Re: speedway-focus challenge: Results

I crossed 100 on the front straight... but then again I did happen to sneak just to the inside line on that chicane comin onto the straight. Got 96 on the back according to the logger.

you missed an almost ultimate Evo

Re: speedway-focus challenge: Results

I was hitting about 97-100mph or so on the front straight, depending on if I chose to go into 4th gear before having to threshold brake into Turn 1. If it wasnt for the ultra tall gearing I have from the tires and the 3.4X gears in the PZEV, my car could hit noticeably higher speeds on the straights.

Im curious to see what I will run on that track after I install cams, LSD, gears, take more weight off the car, stickier tires, etc... My goal is to get down to 1:20 flat if not break the 1:20 barrier.. I think it is doable...

Re: speedway-focus challenge: Results

Wow Nik a 5 second gain would be very strong. The very quick (winning) Focus sport car was very fast on the straights. When I would catch him my 300+ hp mustang would barely pull him.

My guess is if someone lays down a 1:23 flat thats pretty good.

Good morning everyone, First I want to say congrats to Raffi in the Focus sport car not only did have the only Focus in the 24s but even after that EVIL handicap system(just joking) he still won the Focus Challange, also Nik great run and good job to finsh second sound like with all the mods that your planning you might be one of the 3 or 4 guys to beat at future challage events. SVT Neil great job in your stock SVT(what a great car even stock), man how knows what a good set of tires would have done for you. Well I see that the Bar has been raised again and Team Haggis racing has a lot of work to do to get back to the top my team and myself are putting a plan togeather and working on the budget to make my SVT better and faster so I can get back to the top. Thank you for challanging me to get better your are all great Guys and Girls that run in the Focus challange and I am proud to be part of this Grassroots motor sports.
