So I realize that this isn't the place (ford focus forum) for this, but I didn't really get much of an answer from the dodge forums, so here goes...

The question is about the front suspension on a 2005 3500 diesel 4x2 with DRW. All of the suspension components seem painted except for the aluminum ones (not supposed to be painted), and the hub assembly on each side. The truck has 500 miles on it and has never been driven in the salt, and has seen rain once. Here are some pictures to let you know what I am talking about.

So I was just wondering if it is supposed to be unpainted, or if it was supposed to be painted. It seems that if this much rust has formed after driving in the rain once, it might be a good idea for dodge to paint it. Does anyone on the jet have an 05 Ram that they could take a picture of?

I tried customer service on the dodge website, and it doesn't give an email address to send it to, just a form to complete, and whenever I click send, a blank page shows up

It's surface rust, no big deal. And yes, unless it is treated or coated ahead of time, it will rust. Perfectly normal. I would venture to say it was probably even rusted before it left the lot.

The knuckle and rotor are cast iron, the tie rod is steel. Take it all apart, blast it, the powdercoat it. Not much you can do about the rotor itself, but you can do the spacer hub.
