Dreamland: What supercar would you choose?

Here's the scenario:

1. You are given a blank check to buy any supercar, regardless of price, old or new.
2. You must buy only one car.
3. The car is yours to keep forever, but you cannot sell it (i.e. so potential profit is not a factor).
4. You must drive it on a semi-regular basis.

What's your choice?

Man, this is really tough, but I think I'd go with the Aston Martin Vanquish, maybe even an S package one. Sure it's not the fastest, most expensive, or best at any thing in particular, but the car is just utter perfection to me in every way :thumbup:

Good thread, and tough choice for myself.

For now, I'll pick a Ferrari F40...

..but honestly that could go many other directions depending on my mood. I'm a huge Lotus Esprit fan, but... they're just not "supercar" enough without a V8, and I prefer the four-bangers.

Why, you ask? Not so much the beauty, though I do like the "winged-wedge" shape. The small-displacement V8 with a pair of turbos with undoubtly horribly non-linear response.. the expected 80's ergonomics... the raw and crude nature of it all. That's just totally well... *me*.

Define "Supercar" really...

I mean... does it have to have a minimum price? Minimum HP? Minimum cylinders? Because I'd also go along the lines of the Aston with the DBS... But some might say thats not "supercar" enough....

Hell I don't care. I'm goin DBS.

Supercar is a pretty well defined term:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supercar

Also, IMHO nothing that AM makes qualifies as a supercar. But hey, it's your dream.

But see you contradict yourself.... the Wikipedia definition is vague at best:

The proper application of the term is subjective and disputed, especially among enthusiasts. The use of the term is dependent on the era: a vehicle that is considered to be a supercar at one time may not retain its superiority in the future. The automotive press frequently calls new exotic cars "supercars".
And I'd somewhat agree... that the Aston V8s are certainly NOT supercars... but the DBS in the 6.0 V12 with 500bhp certainly has the power of a supercar, but also features some more comfort than one might afford a supercar.

But if we're stuck with the cars mentioned on the Wiki page.. then I'll go with the Koenigsegg CCX with Top Gear Wing thank you.

WTF Todd! You should KNOW what a supercar is! I just posted the Wiki entry for guidance. We are not stuck with cars on the Wiki page, which it says are examples of some notable supercars. It doesn't mean it's a complete list.

This is suppose to be a fun thread. Stop being a buzzkill.

It is a work of art more than just a car. Even if you didn't like cars you could appreciate it as a piece of art.

i agree. if i was given a check like this i would buy this. even if i hit the lotto i would buy one. key point to the vanquish its super sexy, pretty fast, and luxuriously. cant get that in many other cars thats for sure.

side note. i saw a lady about 70 something driving one. waste of a beautiful car.

Sierra Cosworth RS500. (who is surprised?)

In more modern terms:
Audi R8, or RS4. If i got the RS4 i would also like to have maybe twin turbos or something to the tune of maybe, just maybe 600whp or so. Is that too much to ask? Bonus points for in winter i would be able to put snow tires on it and still drive the piss out of it. I would also have 4 doors, and yes, i would have a car seat in the back.

I have to drive this car fairly often, so i want it all. Luxury. Comfort. Power. Handling. 4 doors. 4 Seasons. A trunk. A car that doesn't SCREAM "look at me", but is obvious enough to those who know.

Booya.

I hate you Ron.. As if I didn't have enough to think about with you PM and all now I have to think about cars too!?  I will have to get back to this thread when my mind is a bit clearer. I have to go through my episodes of Top Gear and grab a tape measure. The most wood wins.
