absolutely not.

inline 4 cylinder motors are self balancing as long as the rods and pistons are of the same what and the crank is rotationally balanced.

balance shafts dampen the inherent external vibrations of the motor. with a i4 at a point during the rotation cylinder's 1 and 4 are halfway down/up and 2 and 3 are halfway up/down. at that moment it produces the small vibration that the balance shafts are trying to cancel.

I have been without BS for months now and have no complaints.

wouldnt that make the crank spinunbalanced and out of control
No it won't. But I see a 6 page discussion that's going to lead nowhere happening.

The Balance shafts have nothing to do with balance. It's a name given to them by engineers because they had nothing better to do. Basically they are vibration reduction shafts. They make the car idle smoother. That's all. And they also add rotational mass and weight. They are useless becauset removing them only makes the idle slightly rougher.

How much of this mod is applicable to a 2005 ST?
Everything, only difference is going to the exhaust. You'll need to make sure you have long enough for the sedan.
