If you look real close at the last pic, you can see some air under the right rear tire. This is the first time I've ever seen any pics of my car on an autocross course. I'm a little bit surprised of how much body roll there is. I'm running SVT springs, SVT rear bar and Koni adjustables. Along with poly bushings.

One thing though... In that last picture, you're not turning the wheel inside the car's arc, are you? Cuz if you are... knock it off, bad habit!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Sweet action pics! 4th and 7th pics are the best!

Btw...I don't mean to get off topic but...being that I'm on a "learn-everything/anything-about-autocrossing" frenzy...what exactly do you mean by car's arc? (sorry if this sounds like such a noob question) Why is it bad?

Thanks for any kind of response

This autocrossing stuff is kinda addicting.

red_zx3_01, The turbo puts me in Street Modified (SM). I usually get it handed to me by anywhere from one to three seconds depending on the competition. But I finished 3rd in the series last year because of consistency.

Omni, Inside the cars arc? Since I have no idea what you're talking about, Yes you're probably right.

I've only been to one school so far and this is only my second auto-x season. Give me a break. Unlike some people who have been autocrossing since they could reach the pedals, I still have alot to learn. Last weekend for the first time I actually found out how hard you can stand on the brakes when the r-compounds are up to temp. Damn, my eyes almost popped out.

Thanks for the input guys!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I didn't mean any serious criticism. You're still looking damn good out there. Which r-compounds did you choose?

I'd love to autocross a turbo Focus... It gives me evil thoughts.

Keep up the good work though.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Well... I don't want to mess up a picture thread with that stuff..

But... Take a skidpad for example. The tires can generate a set G-force while turning a fixed radius. Now.. We know that tires generate more force with static friction than sliding friction... I.e. A rolling tire generates more force than a locked tire.

So.. pretend you are driving on this skidpad at maximum force, and you suddenly crank the wheel toward the center of the skidpad. You are already generating as much force as possible, so instead of turning a tighter arc, the tires switch from "grip" to "slide"... and you actually will be generating less grip than if you were to have the wheel on the proper arc. This is what I mean by turning the wheel inside the car's arc. It is something I see fairly often.

Here is a little demo pic: http://www.omnilith.net/pics/noturn.jpg

Anyway... Penguini66: I apologize for cluttering your thread with this... I'm not even certain you were doing it at all, so this advice might not be even valid for you... But since I opened the can of worms, I figured I might as well try to cram them back in the can.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">In my region there are not too many. But at our first event of the season I got beat by 0.13 seconds by a WRX. I have no idea what he has done to it and I've never seen him before. My normal competition is an M3, a Mustang, a Firebird and a Talon. I'm slowly catching up.

Omni, right now I have new 205/50-15 Victoracers on all four corners. I have a pair of used 225 Ecsta's to try once I get some longer studs. Plus some used 205 Hoosiers to try.

And yes you're right, I was probably "turning the wheel inside the car's arc." I had allot of trouble that day figuring out some of the corners and picking a line. Plus it was an odd almost sandy surface. I always seemed to be off line and playing catch up at least once per lap.

And Egz, yes I was really standing on the brakes. Those tires really work. I was a little bit surprised myself at how well the car stopped. This was only my second event with new Victoracers. Last year I bought old worn out tires.

Imagine being right on the rev limiter in second gear, standing on the brake as hard as you can, somehow negotiating a 180* hairpin while downshifting to first, then...well you get my point. It was definately a fun learning experience. Every time I get out of the car after a run, I always look at my hand and if its not shaking then I was not going fast enough.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I was just so happy to see pics of me out on course, I had to share them.
