"Auto Express has the first official shots of the newcomer, and these also reveal how the ST-badged family flagship will look when it debuts at the Geneva Motor Show next March.

Powered by a 3.2-litre straight-six turbocharged engine producing more than 250bhp, this ST is claimed to be the most powerful Ford of its kind to hit the road since the Sierra Cosworth. Although it is inspired by the Mondeo concept previewed in Issue 929, there are key differences.

Most obvious are changes made to the show model's distinctive three-section chrome-trimmed front air intake, which is replaced by a single lower grille and contrasting surround. Small projector-style foglamps also feature, along with smart Focus ST-style alloy wheels and lower side sills, which ensure a low and aggressive stance.

At the rear, the distinctive light clusters are joined by a racy diffuser-type bumper and a pair of chrome-trimmed exhaust pipes. A subtle spoiler is also visible on the tailgate. In addition, the flagship version will benefit from the latest Continuous Controlled Damping (CCD) system used in the S-MAX people carrier. A button on the centre console will let the driver choose from three different settings depending upon the conditions. The clever adaptive set-up will be joined by the latest traction and stability control technology.

The all-new Mondeo will hit showrooms next year priced from £16,000. Entry-level models will feature 1.6 petrol and 1.8-litre turbodiesel engines. Further up the range, customers will be able to choose 2.0 and 2.5-litre petrol units, as well as a 2.0 oil-burner.

But before it does, the sleek-looking machine has an all-important appointment with super-spy 007! This Tonic Blue five-door was hand-built by Ford of Europe's design studio in Germany especially for the upcoming Bond film. And while it doesn't boast any Q-inspired gadgets, it shows how the finished car will look with a bespoke bodykit, previewing the styling of the ST variant. The production model will debut at the Geneva Motor Show next March."-AutoExpress

Heck if Ford was smart they'd badge it as Mercury or Linclon and sell it over here.

true ^^ but what i sorta meant with the lexus thing is how much of a difference there seems to be in the euro ford compared to our ford rofl. If that was debadged and shown to an average consumer their last guess would be ford.
yeh...lets just hope with the introduction of the next global platform, more than a platform will be carried over.

I have to admit tho, Ford is shaping up here in the past 2yrs or so. Cars are getting more upclass and refined. Just needs to trickle past the midsize sedan to the focus and we'll be aright;)

They tried that here. They called it a Jag.

It didn't work so well. Of course, that wasn't this version of the Mondeo.
bingo, and it wasn't the age it is now. Most companies are globalizing their brands even more now, whether it is Dodge now heading to europe or Opel's flavor in Saturn...

it's the age, trust.

Bingo my arse.... What are some of you guys smoking lately??? Jag coming down market is nothing like Ford trying to sell that Mondeo here.

Jag was always thought as basically a super high end lux car maker and tried to come down market. Of course while using Ford parts and chassis it didn't work.

But that Mondeo sold here as Mercury or even under Ford would be a whole new ball game.

I would bet you $100 (he i ain't got much) that if they brought that over here to do some comparison testing it would beat out the Ford 500 or Fusion every single time.....

You guys are all eating up Ford PR hook line and sinker..... Meanwhile every single Industry Media group agree's witht he rest of us that Ford EU is miles ahead of Ford NA.

Just promise if anything we have been saying (cars coming here, MKII RS no no, etc) That we get to have a thread, maybe even sticky it for a short time, for a "na na" dance for u;)

The Interior is wonderfull.
The exterior is just okay, it just dosent seem to flow well.
They could have used that satin silber that is on the grill and difuser somewhere else on the exterior(Side skirt lip, door handles, foglight surrounds, etc) to hold the whole thing together. Beter yet, just paint all of these bits black, including the headlamp surround and loose all of the restr of the chrome while your at it. I love the style of the Ford UK noses (inverted acrost the beltline) and this is a decent representation of that. Wheels, At least they could ce easily replaced.

250hp from a turbocharged 3.2? Isn't that a bit behind the curve when it comes to turbo power these days? I'm a little dissapoined.

not if you consider very HIGH MPG...which could be the case

ya, they could call it the Contour and Mystique

oh wait, been there, done that

I think too many of the European and Japanese brand customers have a negative perception of Ford to buy a car similar to the other brands. That and many of the Americans still buying Fords want something larger. You have to remember the Mondeo is pretty much the largest regular car Ford sells in Europe (besides their imports). We have a few cars that would be larger and more costly.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by 'high mileage', is this not a new car?

I like how you bash it when you know very little of the engine
I didn't bash, I asked a question and stated an opinion. Do you have anything constructive to offer?

Is that MINI ME driving?

um...considering the height of the doors/roof...i'd say he is fairly normal in height, possibly just in a "relaxed" driving position, but not by much

That makes a lot more sense, maybe I'm blind but I'm not finding the MPG ratings anywhere in the posted link. What are they advertising? I'm curious what, if any, design cues will get dropped when they make the shift from one-off Bond car to real world Ford.
