I recently put AGX shocks with progress springs about 1 1/2 months ago and within the last few weeks have been getting a progressively worsening clunking coming from the front AND rear. Front is definitely worse than the rear. Clunking is a lot worse at low speeds and the clunking occurs with even the smallest of bumps (though the clunks are not guaranteed - it may clunk over one bump and then not clunk over the same bump the next time) and clunks whether turning or going straight. I've had the front end up and could not find, feel, or hear anything loose. I've got to say too, that while the suspension sounds like crap, it still handles the same though with this noise I'm scared to push it too far :). It doesn't feel loose or comprimised while driving it.

Any suggestions on what might be going on?

Sure SOUNDS like something loose...???
 :dunno:
Maybe re-check the torque?
Especially the center nuts at the tops of the struts and the nuts at the tops of the shocks. DO NOT Over-tighten them, but you might make sure that they are to spec with a torque wrench.
Those particular nuts may not allow for free movement by hand, but may have an impact when the car is settled and moving.
I had something similar once with one of my front strut bolts.
BEWARE, the Center nut takes a decent bit of torque, but if you over-torque one of the 3 bolts that hold the strut in the tower, they are KNOWN to Shear at Very Low Torque.
Do NOT Over-Tighten them!
Keep us posted.
:)

Just curious did you get the car aligned after the install. Well the reason I am asking all shops should check the suspension and steering for play or noises before any alignment is performed.

My guess is that your strut rod nuts (center of the strut mount bolt/nut) weren't/ aren't tightened enough. And that couple turns is what is causing the clunking. If this is the problem the threads may be messed up on the shaft, I could see using a properly sized washer not hurting anything.

I Don't know what you're talking about!
I've NEVER used a washer in that location...
;)
The threads on the Koni shafts seem to not go as deep as the OEM dampers, IIRC, so I've Definitely used Washers there to make sure that the nut has Plenty of Good Thread to Bite.

no alignment after the install. i agree that it certainly seems like something is loose because it's getting progressively worse (ie - it wasn't there after install a month and a half ago, but it is now). I'm taking it up to a friends house tonight to take a look so hopefully i'll know more after tonight...

okay, i have no idea what i did, but last night i took the shock off - but didn't separate the spring from the strut cause I didn't have the right tools. Just took it off, inspected it, reinstalled making sure all bolts were good and torqued to spec. Taking it off, no bolts were even close to loose, and none seemed too tight either. Either way, after I put it back together it no longer clunks.

Like I said I don't know what I did because it went right back in the same it came out and there were no issues that I could see, feel, or hear, but now it's better.

go figure.

-gonna check out the rears tonight...

when u put the rear springs in did u put the spring isololators back on the top and the bottom of both the springs theyre those rubber peices. if u dont out them back on the spring they make metal to metal noise and that could be the problem
