Fuel Solution?

MSD is now making a fuel pump booster!!
"The MSD fuel pump booster will allow you to get away with a smaller pump. When the unit sees boost, it increases voltage to the fuel pump, increasing fuel flow only when it's needed. The fuel pump booster has ajustments for the manifold pressure that triggers it, and how quickly voltage is increased. voltage can go as high as 22 volts."
I took this quote from the new March issue of Sport Compact Car, SEMA best at show review.

Tom- Don't forget to mention the other little details like the return fuel line and high octane race gas...

As for the timing issue, if the MAF was unaltered (thus, maintaining the stock timing curve) would the timing really need to be altered in a chip?

It'd be interesting to find out what the MSD pump gizmo (doesn't sound like an actual pump) would do when the MAF hit the 4.95v cutoff... Would it cutout or keep increasing pump voltage based on its own sensor? This just might solve the MAF cut-off problem. Worth a little research at least.

Edit: Here's a bit of info from the MSD site. http://www.msdignition.com/np2002/np2002pd8.htm

Charles, you can't really answer that question w/o first asking at what boost? 6PSI, 10PSI, 15PSI, 18PSI? 150, 200, 250, 300hp? The general answer is pretty simple... if all else fails and you are still knockin', pull out some more timing.

Does it do anything different than P-51s little trick? http://www.teamfocaljet.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=49&t=000012

Charles, That is what I was thinking of when I read the article. that this pump voltage booster (looks just like MSD ignition system, not a pump)would eliminate the 14.95 volt cut off on the MAF, or at least force it push more fuel thus eliminating most of the problems that you get when you reach 200+ hp.
For more info this is their web site, MSDignition Homepage

No this will not eliminate the 5volt MAF fuel cut!

The computer will shut off the INJECTORS at 5Vmaf, not the pump. It's a computer problem, not a fuel pump problem.

All this thing does is overdrive your pump. Shortening it's life (you will burn it out eventually!).
