(Dearborn, MI) FusionUnleashed.com - Analysts, consumers and journalists all seem to agree that the Ford Fusion has proven to be a worthy competitor to foreign nameplates. The Fusion has been accepted in the car World because it has a great design appeal, is well equipped, well built and priced just right.
This past Thursday (13 March), we had the chance to interview the Ford Fusion Team Brand Manager, Dan Geist in Dearborn, Michigan.
Many people posted questions for Mr. Geist on the FusionUnleashed message boards. Some of the questions we asked were general in nature while a few of them were a little tougher. For example, we asked why Ford did not make the Fusion with standard air bags and if “made in Mexico” was hurting Fusion sales. And a question on everyone's mind - will there be a performance version of the Fusion?
Even though it was a typical cold and dreary March “Motown” day, Dan was happy to answer those questions and even offer Fusion enthusiasts exclusive information on what we can expect to see from the Fusion Team in the future.
For starters, the 2007 Ford Fusion will get a boost in horsepower, probably from Ford's new 3.5L V6 engine. While there will not be an ST or SVT Fusion in 2007, Geist said that Fusion consumers will be pleased with Ford's progress towards an ST type of vehicle as they move toward the 2008 and 2009 model years.
Ford will also spice up the Fusion's color palette with a “pearl” purple, expand the red exterior colors and even add a red interior color option.

It seems like good news to me.. although I would like to see the ST version faster, it usually takes Mazda 3 years to come up with MS version as well..
